Why won't good coaches touch UT? Why?

Heard it mentioned before.. Something Jimmy Cheek put in place back in the early 2000's. Not sure if that stuff is still going on or not.

I've heard it mentioned, too. I'm not at all a fan of partial qualifying. Limits are put in place for a reason, and they apply to everybody or they apply to nobody.

Because if you don't win, it's career suicide. You get fired at Tennessee and you're never making it back to a Power 5 HC job.

The first coach we offered the job to took it, so it doesn't really sound like guys don't want the job. A bunch of people who were not going to get offers are coming out saying they don't want it just to get their name in the press.....I would do the same thing.

The second person we offered it to said no, but did you really think he would say yes? Fourteen years coaching at your alma mater, 4 million a year, and the level of expectation is that you play better than .500 football most of the time. Why would you leave? It's 4 million dollars in Oklahoma....you could buy all of the state that doesn't have oil on it.

So really, we are about to be on offer number 2....and my bet is that either this one of the next takes it. There are plenty of great coaches out there, many of which are playing in conference championships this weekend and would not want the distraction of their name being in the ring.....relax.

This is still Tennessee....everyone already knew our fans were nuts....it isn't new news. It's part of the reason the right coach decides he wants this job. It's part of the reason the right players chose to come here.

Sure, Currie is a bit of a concern, but hopefully he and the entire athletic department learned a lesson from the Schiano thing. I still believe a great coach is coming to Tennessee.
