Why were none of the questionable calls not challenged by TN?

I heard the announcer ask why Dooley took a timeout instead of challenging the out of bounds play.

That was just a bad luck moment.. Official ruled shaw in bounds , coaches had to knee jerk for a time out.. reffs didnt wanna hear anything after. Nick saban gets that TO back, Dooley doesnt..

The calls im still screaming about is the fumble, horse collar, then no call on grounding sequence..

You can't challenge the incorrect call on the horsecollar to Connor Shaw, nor can you challenge the intentional grounding that wasn't called. The only one i can remember that he should've challenged was Shaw's run where he stepped out.

That is a bull**** excuse.

You are the head coach, you make the refs listen to your argument. You even have a challenge in your back pocket that makes the right call automatically.

Can you challenge under 2 min?

Not sure but it's only 1 challenge per half and if he went ahead and called the timeout (because the refs had called it inbounds) then he wouldn't be able to challenge without any timeouts

Upstairs should have taken over if he had stepped out of bounds though

He could have used the TO he just called to challenge it.

And Dooley should have never let that go without a review. He was standing right there. He didn't seem to protest much at all. He just let it go. Stand on the damn field, yell, do SOMETHING. You can't let that go.

Yup. And everyone on the sideline needs to be screaming and pointing to where he steps
out Pros know and do this all the time.

I'm thinking he didn't know Shaw stepped out of bounds.

CDD didn't have to KNOW that he stepped out. Going beserk about the missed call could have resulted in a review. This is not Cub Scouts. Sometimes you just have to man-up out there.:bash:

In the first half USC went for it on 4th and 1 just inside our 10. Shaw scrambled then cut up field his knee obviously went down at the 10 1/2 a full yard short of the first down but slid and the ball was spotted at the 9 which gave them a first down. They scored a td a couple plays later. Had Dooley or someone else on the staff watched the replay we could have challenged the play and most likely got the ball over on downs. Even if we lose the challenge its better to use the timeout on that then taking them to the locker room like we did.

Dooley has never been a great game management coach but today he looked disassociated.
