I really think the game yesterday will pump new life into the Vols. There have been several occasions in the past when a team has struggled and barely scraped out a win in the first round, and then went on to make a big run in the tourney. It seems like almost every year there is a team that nearly gets upset in the first round goes on to the final four or close to it. I'm not saying we're going to make the final four, I'm just saying I think we can make a run. I think the shot Lofton hit at the end of the game will bring his shooting touch back, which we really need right now.

I also think that the fact that Wichita State only has one day to prepare for us will really benefit us. That is a big reason why we were able to go through the first half of our sec schedule with such a good record.

I think we can win for 2 reasons.

1. They only play 8 and their 3 main backups are all guards. If we can force the tempo, we can tire them down, especially inside.

2. They have no really tall player to guard Lofton, unless a backup does it. They are 5-11, 6-2, 6-4, 6-8, and 6-10. The first 3 aren't tall enough to disrupt him and the other 2 aren't athletic enough. Their backups are 5-11, 6-5, and 6-6. One of the latter 2 would have to do it.

They have 9 players who will be playing more than 9 minutes on Saturday (10 if they hadn't lost a player the last half). Tennessee has 7. Why does everyone act like we are deeper than WSU? We aren't.

I live near Indiana State (another MVC team) so I see alot of Wichita State games. The Shockers are a very good team but if we push the tempo and hit the boards I don't see them hanging with us. They also don't do well with full court pressure so that should be a huge plus for us.

They did seem to struggle a bit when Seton Hall put the press on them and like I said, that Seton Hall team was terrible. Hopefully we can get the turnovers tomorrow.

Witchita State is a good squad though.

I do not have a good feeling about this game...

Lofton and Watson need to hit their open shots (and Lofton the not-so-open ones as well) and I think we will be alright but if we shoot like we did yesterday, I don't think we will have much of a chance...

I hope you're right. Pressure should be a diference maker. However, Wichita State seemed to be a well coached team with a great degree of disclipine. We must force them into mistakes with defense! :machinegun:

1) Force turnovers (12+) and points off
2) Getting open looks for 3's and knocking them down

We do these things and we win. Miller may abuse us inside but the above will more than cancel that out.

These are the keys, plain and simple.

If Wingate plays like he did against Winthrop and Lofton/Watson/Smith can hit some outside shots, we'll have a great chance of winning.
