I'm just not buying the argument that he wasn't given a chance. I'm also not buying that he is of the same caliber as Fromm or Tua or any number of other great freshman QBs around college football.
Forcing throws into coverage is probably the most consistent thing you see out of freshman qbs. Bo Nix did it against Oregon several times. People forget about it though because the result was a win. But he absolutely did. Maurer won’t have the same supporting cast as Bo does with Auburn in terms of defense to keep them in the game though. I’m not suggesting that BM has a chance to beat UGA but what I am saying is people concentrate on different things depending on the result. If the result is a win we tend to forgive the 3 ints and only want to talk about the 3 tds. In a loss we tend to forget the 3 tds and talk about the 3 ints.Probably because he was forcing throws into coverage and I'm going to assume limited playbook knowledge. Not saying JG played great. Liked some things I saw out of Maurer but there were some negatives also.
Not true. It can argued both ways. JG went through the elite 11 and I know for a fact that situation is one of the teaching points. In the red zone within 10 yards of the goal line if you’re throwing to the front of the end zone the ball should finish on his chest to his knees. In the back of the end zone it needs to be 9-11 feet high. That ball was thrown with too much heat from too close and finished too high. Jennings had very little time to react. And one guy threw a perfect ball to Jennings from 5 yards out in the end zone and Jennings dropped it into an INT
Then you need to apply to UT as a talent evaluator for the qb position because you can diagnose the success of a future qb with only 6 possessions. You sir, have a giftI've seen enough of BM to know he isn't the answer to the long term success of UT. I don't think he will win any more games than JG, which is to say almost none for either of them
JG completed 10 passes for 107 yds, a 10.7 yd avg while Maurer completed 4 for 44 yds which is 11 yds per completion. Negligible but edge Maurer there. And the int JG threw to the DB was his fault. The DB played soft and squatted on Calloway’s route. Calloway did the right thing and went to the opening behind him on the sideline. JG read it wrong like he has for his entire UT career.
Sorry to disappoint you but you and the JG apologists are the people who are making this fan base look bad to the rest of the nation with your stubbornness to accept that he is not and will never be an SEC caliber QB.
Lol, in what world is actually moving the offense down the field and giving a chance at down field passes sucking much much more than the three year failure we have now who's making the same mistakes plus some. That idiot threw to the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 13 on his first drive back after being sat. JG is absolutely worthless and we'd be much better off if we'd let Maurer play the first three games instead of JG. Another example of ****** coaching. Why was Maurer pulled?
‘Cause although there was an initial “spark” to the offense...he SUCKED asMUCH or MORE than Guarantano
Come on. He's a true freshman that's played all of about 20 snaps. The fact that he didn't look like a deer in headlights and tried to push the ball downfield actually gave me hope.I've seen enough of BM to know he isn't the answer to the long term success of UT. I don't think he will win any more games than JG, which is to say almost none for either of them

Jennings should 100% have caught that ball but the only reason we were in that position was a turnover inside the redzone. JG had how many other chances to get points and could even get us in FG range. And one guy threw a perfect ball to Jennings from 5 yards out in the end zone and Jennings dropped it into an INT
I don't think you are too far off, if not right on the money. Although I believe there is a chance, the HC of GA, may see an opportunity to play everyone on the roster during the second half, building his team, getting as many of his guys as much game time experience as possible. If so, I'm guessing the final score, 53-6.That score will be 35-0 halftime and likely 56-3 end of game...
