Was I pissed yesterday when Florida sealed our fate vs LSU? Yes
Was I pissed at our defensive showing yesterday? Yes
Am I still pissed? Hell no! We won 63-37, I repeat 63-37.

How that's not satisfying to you guys is beyond me. You can throw out the "Oh, well Botch choked away the east," but I can guarantee that those of you complaining about the way he "choked" away the east, are the same ones who would say he's the luckiest man ever had we gotten in like the Gators did.

Another example; I saw posters praising UTC's coaching staff for having them ready for the game vs Alabama, but no one was flaming Saban for not having his team prepared.

I guess my main concern in the amount of people that think they can have it both ways when making an argument. It just doesn't make sense...to flame Butch for something, but when another coach does it we praise him, or just brush it off.

I agree 100%, these posters are so ridiculously stuck in 1998, that their brains some how believe UT should be back in the NC race in 4 years. I will point this out, I love P. Manning, but CPF could not win a NC or get his QB a Heisman with teams that were probably the best in the history of UT. But these bleeding heart, short sighted, ignorant Vol Fans can't let it go. One thing is for sure, if UT next year or year after are in the playoff, I going to make sure these............holes hear it from me.

Don't try to cloud the issue with facts.

Just remember that this is the "internets", and everyone gets to share their opinion equally regardless of the insight and experience behind it. In fact it usually rewards those the most with the more outrageous and inflammatory comments. It appears to me that lately the great Volnation is being spammed by the "legions of the miserable"".

Yup, and people like to say we've been lucky this year, but how quickly they forget about 1998.

The rest of the division was down.

We were supposed to be up.

10-2 and a ticket to Atlanta should have been the basic, objective forecast for this team.

They fell short because of an inexplicable loss to SC. That loss went on to haunt us. Butch has a trend of letting his worst losses hurt 2-3 times over and it gets annoying.

But every team has inexcusable losses, minus Alabama really.

I mean, as I think of it, every team has a loss where I think they shouldn't have lost. It happens

I can't justify SC fully, but having a player quit in the middle of the game is never good for momentum.

I'm upset with defense and the defense only so any meltdown by me is directed toward them and some at the posters that say "eh, so what if we gave up 700yds to Missouri, we still won so why complain?" not realizing that just saying winning is fine without anything needing to improve.

I agree, but we have posters who think our season is a complete failure now.

Disappoinment is the word I would use.

No one is going to talk me into that SC loss being acceptable.

Additionally, in any other profession with expectations, when you are forecasted to have a great month, quarter, year and you miss that mark, people are going to be pissed.

If I missed my number and walked into my boss's office with a smile on my face he'd be pissed too.

This is a world where excuses and successful individuals can coexist. I'm not saying injuries don't hurt, but you can get past youth, injuries, whatever else and produce successful results. People overcome excuses all the time.

Losing to SC coming off of a bye week is inexcusable.

Because some idiots would rather lose by 50 again than play in the Sugar Bowl.

Yes, we're all disappointed we didn't win the east. Yes we're disappointed we had a bad game vs. South Carolina.

I don't think that means we can't be excited about getting the best situation for being 9-3.

I'm not smiling, I'm not all unicorns and rainbows. I also said I can't fully justify the SC loss.

However, I'm not dumb enough to continue melting down when we have an oppurtunity to win our 9th regular season game next week.

There's a difference between a meltdown and being thoroughly and confusingly disappointed. I want to give Shoop another year. I think Butch has probably earned another year. However, I have not been impressed with what was supposed to be our "as good as it gets" season.

On top of that, I'm tired of being the team that needs everyone else to crap the bed for our team to experience the fruits of success. Everyone is talking about us going to the Sugar Bowl, and it's going to happen if teams A, B, and C do this or that, and if the right decision makers see the greatest in our team and so on. It gets old.

Above all else, we lined up for a 58 yard kick to tie a college football game. Sometimes you see things that make you go "huh?" and they continue to happen. That's one that will never make sense

I understand.

When I say melting down, I'm not referring to you. You seem to be on the same page as me really. I feel your concerns, I see them, too.

But as I look around the college football world, a lot of crazy **** has happened and people need to remember that.

We're not the only school with an inexcusable loss this year. We're not even close to that, but some posters would make you think otherwise.

Well I can understand being slightly upset about missing the SEC championship, there is no way we would have beat Bama in that game. With the way the run defense has been playing, this has repeat blowout written all over it. This scenario is probably better for UT, even if it hurts.

You act like this team straight rolled opponents all year long, and that just isn't true. We struggled against App State, struggled against Ohio, needed VT to play poorly to win, squeaked by a very bad Georgia, lost to a very bad Muschamp USCe, let the worst offense in the SEC and half of college football run all over us last night.

CBJ didn't live up to his own performance metrics, and never, not once this whole season managed to have this team prepped and ready to go for 4 quarters on both sides of the ball.

You can trot out the w/l record all day long, but the reality is that we still don't even have a division title under CBJ, in a year with the most experienced and over-all talented team that he will ever have at UT. Stop setting the bar at "better than Dooley", that's not UT football.

Liked, and fair enough.

I complain about losers and here I am wasting a morning complaining like one. Hoping for the best from here on out. I want Dobbs to go out on top like he deserves. Learning tough lessons hurts!

Bottom line, every team and every coach has a few blackmarks on their resume.

ferentz and Iowa lost to NoDak St (fcs powerhouse) at home when ranked in the top 15

Harbaugh, the $9 million dollar man, and his #2 ranked Wolverines lost that same, now unranked, Iowa team

Fulmer lost to Memphis State with Peyton at QB.

Saban, the best coach on the planet, lost to some bottom feeder LA school school (latech, maybe) his first season.

D'antonio and MichSt are losing to everyone this year.

Bottom line, bad games happen to EVERYONE.

I don't think CBJ needs to work on his hall of fame induction speech but i also don't think he needs to grovel to Volnation for forgiveness either.

I understand that all teams have inexcusable losses however this one stung more because of what was at stake and we again, come out flat, got outplayed, and once again were the weaker team.

UT should have never fallen like it did. That said, after 4/years, with the legacy class and drop in East competition, UT should have won the division. Even with the injuries it was internal division that derailed this goal.
Not sure how this translates into expecting a NC. I expected UT to play for the SEC. The injuries, and Bama's dominance lowered those expectations.

Instead, we have Vol fans reliebed they don't have to play Bama again.

People are dumb..we lost one game we shouldn't have when we have more injuries then I can ever remember.

The streak vs Florida is ended and we finish the season ranked..

With where we have been the past decade, anyone not happy with that can go away..

Manning helped get us to ATL in 97. WE should have been back to back SEC East champs. But poor coaching and development snatched that chance from them jaws. Agree or disagree oh well
