I didn't take time to watch, but Knowles defense is basically the same thing Freeman runs at Notre Dame if you aren't already familiar with Knowles. Simulated pressure and lots of disguised coverage. Has a "joker" guy who basically QB's the defense (similar to Pruitt, but otherwise almost exact opposite styles).

I think what he means is you're playing a bigger player at the Star that can match up with a TE when the opposing offense is in 12 or 22 personnel.

I’m not a coach, but I would run a look like this with Perlotte at CAT, Carter at Will, Campbell at MIKE, and Spillman at DOG for our linebackers. I would put Hobbs at weak side DE next to Perlotte, Gilliam at NG, and Jordan Norman at DE opposite of Hobbs. That’s what I would do for our front seven but I ain’t a coach

You can just run that play every time against your idea. You trust your guy at end to make that play against an SEC running back

Different players, different coaches different team. Notre Dame also ran that scheme in 2012 and made it to the national championship.

One high safety instead of two, outside linebacker over there “J” is not on the LOS like in the other one, and much wider splits for your D-Lineman. The obviously there are other formations they line up in, but there are some noteable differences

Believe you have to play to your strengths and the LB room screams strength. DB room is getting better, so shifting to 4 2 in passing situations makes sense but our base D should be 4 3. Written as I sit on my sofa.

Outside runs are brutal on defenses like this that commit too many guys to the run or to the interior gaps. That’s why everyone runs weak side speed option against bear

Screen passes, outside zone runs, speed options, jet sweep with your slot receiver. Causal fans think you can stop any run and get killed on any pass with a front like that but not so much
