I'm a believer that it's a coaches job to put his players in position to be successful.

While the game is nauseating and tough to watch, it's hard to say it's because of the coach.
The first 4th down call was a good call, and the player didn't make a play.
The onside kick was a great call, but the players didn't make the play.
The FL TD after the safety was not a bad defensive call. A freshman stopped covering his man leading to a TD.
The second 4th down call was a good call, but the player didn't make the play.

I don't believe the players didn't make these plays because they haven't been coached. I think it's due to them not having experience making these plays when the opportunity is there. I believe this comes from the former coach not putting his players in position to be successful. The success that was had with the former staff was mainly due to players making things happen on their own (Dobbs).

I am encouraged that we have a coach that puts players in position to make plays. I hope these plays start to be made and we start recruiting kids that only know one way, and that way is to make the plays that come your way.

2 QB sneaks in a row by a QB who cant run? Desperation plays in the first quarter? Ok..

Just play action JG all day..he might be salvageable like Crompton was.

Because we are a hot mess, and not even competitive. We would get our asses whipped by Old Dominion.

I believe in Pruitt so far.. Helton and his play calling on the other hand..
I complained a lot about Helton in the WVU game. He was too conservative in the 2nd half when we were down 14 points or more. You have to call plays to try and win the game. Helton has not done that at all this year. How did the SOB get this job ?

Years ago when Lane Kiffin turtled against Florida people really praised him but he never attempted to win the game. This game we are going to get run out of the stadium if it continues as is but at least we threw it all at them.

Really both 4th down calls look ok. The none conversion on the first one but the next play was a forced fumble by the defense, usually you see that as the coach giving the D confidence. The second one should have been a first and goal had the Pope just steped out of bounds or covered up the ball. The onside kick really came close to working.

I think we all expected this team to look a bit more prepared at this point. That was a bad half of football on multiple levels.
I agree, it was beyond bad. I just don't believe it is due to the Coach. Like I said, I believe if a few plays were made that were there for the taking, this game would look different.

Interesting that with some people, it's never the players fault. No matter who is coaching, it's always on the coach. Hard for me to believe every successful coach who comes here forgets how to coach.
