Why so many former vols getting cut they don’t even get chances to play in the nfl it’s sad

You go from a lake of 10,500 players to a pond of 1,700...where you might be a stand out in college in the top 10% of players it doesn't translate to the league.

Also, I do believe we have a coach and staff that tends to get more out of players.
Coaches the average guy up to be really good.

For every second we saw them play, the coaches saw them a minute in practice. They got cut because they didn't have what the coach was looking for. I have no take on the validity of the coaches' opinions, but it is their's to have.

This is one of the more interesting elements of the game to me. I often wonder how guys wash out that were superstars in college while others become superstars in the NFL that we never even heard of in college. Not always of course, but it seems to happen more than you think it would.

If your a rookie you get preseason games to prove your worth. Salary caps get the veterans a lot. A trade can get you out, your salary is needed for someone else. As others have said NFL is a tough cut throat business. Dobbs is the guy that has surprised me the most. He just keeps finding a spot on a team. Making lots of $ for nonstarter.

They get plenty of opportunities to play. They have an entire off season and preseason to impress the coach.

Tillman has performed well when he's been healthy. The problem is that he is injured a lot. Hyatt just hasn't performed well. Huge difference there

Believe it or there were 1,184 players cut yesterday. Teams had to reduce their rosters to 53 players. Most had about 90 at the start of the day.
A lot of college teams had numerous players cut.

Fans of every other program in Cfb can easily say the exact same thing about their players.

The NFL is a business and most players won’t ever make it. It sucks, but nobody is owed a roster spot.

If they are good enough they will find a home. This goes for all college players. If they don’t make it, welcome to the real world and get a job. Hopefully you took advantage of your free education while you were in college. Football is tough, reality is real. I pull for them but at the end of the day it is what it is.GBO!

And it’s definitely a business…I saw where a former 1st round OL from Bama was released…he had started 28 games over the last two seasons. He’s definitely good enough to probably start or at least be quality depth but I bet his price tag was more than the team wanted to pay…so they cut him and keep an OL closer to minimum wage…it’s a business

The guy ( I don’t even want to mention his name ) who finished in second place to
the Heist-man, supposedly the second best college football player in the entire country,
did‘t get drafted by ANY team and was not even invited to an NFL camp.
The NFL doesn’t care what you did in college, they aren’t going to pay good money
and take up one of the 53 spots on a roster unless they feel its worth their while.

Mine too - I mean who ever heard of Tyreek Hill when he was in college...20 bucks to the person that can tell me where he went to school without the use of Google-Fu
