Hi guys,

From someone who has no preconceived notion about the Vols other than a vague respect for a classy college program, you guys shouldn't get so down on yourself for yesterday. It was a close game that really could have gone either way. Your offense had several sustained drives and a couple of big plays. The PSU defense has now yielded 3 tds in the past 25 quarters of football and Justin King has shut down several of the top receivers in football this year (Ginn, Samard...,and the purdue guy). The offense is probably going to be just fine, and your defense did not look bad with the exception of stopping the run, and its not like Hunt was breaking them for 50. Ainge looks like a heck of a QB. You're going to have a good team next year. Good luck.

P.S. How can anyone actually like Alabama?

We are down because we haven't won the SEC since 1998, and it is becoming clear to us that we aren't going to win until there is a coaching change, and the fact that our coach is getting a raise pretty much means our next shot will be 2012 if lucky...

And we are upset about yesterday obviously... Too many times we have laid an egg against a team we are better than.

INTGiftoupolous,
Welcome to Volnation. Congrats on your win yesterday. As bad as it stings you guys are a class program. Good luck next year. I hope you win the Big 10. BTW, I love the screenname. Giftoupolous' Int knocking Vinnie Hype and the U out of the MNC was awesome.

tvolsfan summed up most of our feelings pretty well. We are tired of top 5 recruting classes translating into 3-4 loss seasons and fifth in the SEC. The loss was just the final nail in another mediocre season.

we are down because phil can't beat a good team. we lose to pretty much every good coach out there. there isn't any reason for this to change.

I really hated to see this loss to cap off what seemed to be a much improved effort from our team this year. Having said that, PSU did light it up on both sides of the ball only to stink it up on special teams.

PSU took UT outback to woodshed and smacked them around. Hey, congrats to them! They played an excellent game especially considering several missed field goals. In my opinion UT was lacking the big play ability in this game and kept going into the playbook over and over for what wasn't there. Coker made an excellent run for the TD but other than that our offense stalled and was less than effective in the pass game especially.

UT's defensive effort was sad at best. PSU's QB looked like a freakin' super star against us and granted he played out of his mind but common. The best team won and they have my respect because they did it with what looked like a lesser talented team (on paper anyways). I got to admit I don't go out of my way to watch alot of Penn State games so they could have been playing at this level all year for all I know.

A Penn St. guy is calling us classy? You've got Joe Pa and we have Fulmer. Half of our team has been arrested over the past two years and a follower of Joe Pa is calling us classy??

I love the Vols, but let's be realistic here.

hi gift, nice name =D. being an irish fan, i really respect the PSU program and how they handle academics and behavior. i just wanted to point out that, even though the PSU/ND game was prob the Lions worst game of the year, Shark wasn't shut down. Quinn distributed the ball all game to other receivers b/c they were open as well. Walker had 7 receptions (72 yards), Carlson had 6 (98 yards), Shark had 6 (56 yards), and McKnight had 5 (60 yards). It was more that Quinn was spreading the ball around.

That being said, PSU's defense improved dramatically throughout the season, especially when Poz got better. I actually met Posluszny... he's a great guy, and i respect him more than anyone else in CFB. PSU will more than likely eat ND's lunch next year in happy valley, but i look forward to the game against a team that has great fans and a great program

You must have watched a different game than I.

Regardless of whether it was a woodshed-whupping, it was still a loss.

I generally do think that penn state people are pretty classy, so I won't disparage their win by saying it was attributable to our turnovers. They did run the ball on us when they wanted, so congrats to them.

As far as why are UT fans down? Its a culmination, my friend. We were real real good in the 90's and we're no longer top tier.
