So many dumb threads, I thought I'd start a new one. Why was Rogers suspended and not just kicked on the spot? It provides me false hope that he will remain on team later in year. Is it a policy that a player is suspended first before being removed or what?

Speculated the he failed his drug test, and got suspended for the NCSU game and flipped out, so he got suspended until further notice.

He has the option to appeal but in reality how many times do you give a guy the chance to pee clean before you realize the player isn't going to change his habits no matter how talented he is.

I think the swift action of the suspension is not drug related but has more to do with DR talking with an agent. Either way you have to give DD credit for taking his stance on this situation given he could have just jeapordized his job at UT for doing the right thing.

Which friggen sucks!!! Why does he get punish for suspending players? Urban, Saban, and Richt only suspend their players for games they are going to win. I swear I hate CFB coaches sometimes. They will do anything to win.

if it's just weed, suspend him for the GA state game. Dooley has to realize kids these days smoke weed. Saban never suspends his players for smoking weed. UT needs "win at all costs" culture like Alabama.

Given how fast this all went down has me to believe it is more than failing a drug test. Not sure when all the details will be released but the action seemed swift and severe, time will reveal the reason and then we all will have a better perspective on the situation.

I have not read one credible article that says an agent is involved or eligibility is an issue. His locker is empty and by all accounts will remain that way.

most players smoke weed--why suspend him for the whole season? maybe dooley can bring him back for the ga or alabama games.

Why is everyone assuming that this was Dooley's decision to make in the end? There are a few people above Dooley's pay grade that may have forced the issue. For the dense ones in the crowd, I'm referring to Dave Hart, and perhaps Mike Slive or the NCAA in the case of a substance abuse issue.

If Dooley had any way of keeping DR on the team, he would have.

It would be incredibly difficult to bring him back after all the dirty laundry has been aired.

This situation is really weird. According to VQ. This is not a Dooley or Hart decision. It's a UT one. No one in the AD wants to talk about it. They just want to move on.

Fact is, regardless of the why Rogers brought this on himself and unfortunately his team mates, coaches and fans.
If u had to bet on it I would bet that he was given a suspicion and blew his top, ran his mouth, etc.
THAT and his mouth is what led to the "we dont expect him to return".
I was always told growing up that you should never operate off of your emotion. Think about what you do and say and use your mind. Wish I could say I always followed that advice.

Not an agent, didn't go off on a coach, and he is academically eligible so not grades. No one knows, and we probably won't.
