Why not sell the plane on Ebay?

If she sold the plane on Ebay, where would she shoot the wolves from?

you're voting for freaking Obama and Biden but complaining about wasteful spending?

That's entertaining.

What's entertaining about this is McCain/Palin are making the wasteful spending issue the centerpiece of their campaign.

But isn't the cornerstone of Palin's maverick personae her track record of eliminating wasteful spending?

12 thousand for her kids' travel vs. $600 thousand the Obama campaign funneled to his buddies at ACORN.

are you saying the grand total of $60k, that might or might not fall within the rules, strips every penny she might have saved?

If traveling with her family allowed her to carry out her duties, so be it. If it was improper, make her pay for it.

and they should. They should absolutely make Obama's penchant for spending an issue. I'd guess that they'll be fine by comparison.

On principle it would be rather hard to do that when you are taking your kids on trips with taxpayer dimes.

No, it is hypocritical for her to use taxpayer money to fund trips for her family and collect per diem for staying at home. No other governor before her needed to carry family along on trips, and when they did, it came out of their own pocket.

still small potatoes when compared with Obama's donation to ACORN and his planned $100 million earmark to them in the failed bailout legislation.

So you've researched every gov. since they started using planes and she is the only one to ever do it?

I think it is a record that we actually achieved 12 posts in a single thread before you brought up Obama, ACORN, or Ayers.

The thread was never about how much she spent or saved, it was about the principle of what she did given what she has stated as one of her main platforms.

actually, I brought up ACORN in the 6th post in this thread, but who's counting? I will also continue to bring ACORN up and I don't really care what you think about it either

Actually Obama doesn't spend he just leaves local communities he speaks in holding the bill (like my town to the tune of about $20k)

Alaska law does not specifically address expenses for a governor's children. The law allows for payment of expenses for anyone conducting official state business.

She did nothing wrong.

In all, Palin has charged the state $21,012 for her three daughters' 64 one-way and 12 round-trip commercial flights since she took office in December 2006.

That's an insane amount of $10,000 a year, so her kids can be with her... I'm practically sick over this.

21 thousand dollars! I'm shocked, that's 7 times the amount of money Joe Biden has donated to charity.

Funny how she is the first Alaska governor in recent history that considers her kids essential for conducting official state business...among other things, to see their daddy finish a race, a seafood buffet, and a governors convention where they had no capacity. All of which, she never claimed as income.

Meanwhile, she charges the state $17K in per diem expenses for time she spent at home. She is all for cutting expenses when she isn't collecting.

Where did I ever say the amount of money mattered? It is the principle.
