IF and when Phil does get fired, why not throw some big money towards Bill Cower a coach who knows how to win instead of taking a chance on some of the others names that have been thrown out there. I know its a definite long shot but make the offer.

b/c the consensus on him is that cowher wants to come back for nfl job ($$$), not come back for a college job

i see it's your first post though, welcome to the board! :hi:

Penn State rumor is swirling for Cower to be Paterno's replacement.

My cousin's brother's mama's uncle saw Bill Cowher at a Smokey Mountain Market getting a Rooster. He's coming man.

I've heard they are going to offer him $3.2 million plus incentives for championships, etc.

Why in the world would he want to come to TN
he has 0 ties to the area - other than he drafted tee martin and a couple other vols
I know a lot of collge coaches have taking a beating jumping to the nfl
but its not like nfl coaches who have jumped to college have been very succesful either
Gimmie a college HC over him

Cowher is an awesome coach, but my resistance to considering him is likely attributable to my well-known tendencies to be cautiously optimistic concerning UT football.

Having said that, I'm encouraged by the siting from JayTrain and Bham's cousin--especially when I combine that fact with my friend's uncle's sister's mother's corroborating evidence that Cowher does indeed like chicken sandwiches. Apparently, she saw him eating one at the NFL Hall of Fame's celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Pittsburg Steelers franchise last year in Canton Ohio. I'll try to find a link later.

Did Saban have any ties to alabama? It's funny how $4.5 million per year creates interest in moving to a state.

i dont think we'd have that much or more to give with the massive buyout we'd probably end up having to pay in the scenario where he'd come here

plus saban was a bad nfl/good college coach; i think cowher's a good nfl coach...but that doesnt make you a good college coach

Crude estimates:
10,000 empty seats * $50 per seat = $500k per game * 7 home games per year = $3.5M in lost ticket sales alone

Please feel free to correct with better estimates.
