SEC Football Media Day
The one thing that blew me up was when he said that all games are equally important and if you over emphasize one game over another then you might lose a game you should win. The reason that freaked me out was because I have thought for years that the coaching staff has super hyped the Florida game and with a week off before the game the team and staff were worn out before the opening kickoff. The Gators always play cupcakes both weeks before they play Tennessee and obviously take the path that the Vols are just the next game. From what I'm seeing in Lane's Q&A is that the Florida game is just as important as all the other games but not moreso. Advantage lost in the mental preparation for the Gators. Look at the 6:00 mark.

What killed me about his comments was when he said about looking ahead and that we're no where near that level good enough to look ahead.

I think what he meant was that not to be too high or too low, try to say steady and focused during the season......
If you really believe that they won't get "hyped" up for their rivals, then u're being fooled......but they don't want "look ahead."

Phoolmore used to look ahead all the time, and we would play liike ghosts half the time.....I think Lane wants to avoid this, but it's a given he will be extra Jacked for the gators, Bammer, etc........

:eek:lol:

Exactly. If you can get the guys to buy into that, they won't get hyperventilated about the Gator, Bammer, Georgia or any other game. Point is they all count equally and you have to bring it every game.

Also I commented earlier about Kiffin saying(in media day) he had great confidence in our QB situation, but we were going to have a QB competition to see who wins out.Just as I posted before, why haven't we already figured out who will be our starter?

Because this staff has only had spring practice to evaluate the guys on the team. Nut cutting time comes very shortly.

What do you want him to say to that question? "Oh, we're looking forward to playing Florida and Alabama the most. We'll definitely get our guys ready for that." You know if he said that he'd be repeatedly asked if he's getting prepared for WKU and UCLA. It's just coach-speak. All coaches will say this. You never look forward to games. I'd bet you the weeks of the Florida and Alabama game, he will say something to the extent of how his guys are more fired up for this game and they are more focused.

Its also obvious the "we're nowhere good enough" comment is a bit of reverse psychology. From what I've seen already, we'll be much more prepared going into games and he will "game manage" like we haven't seen in a WHILE. Thoughts?

It ain't reverse psychology guys. We lost to WYOMING last year. It is the truth. We are no better than last years team until we prove it on the field (which we will I believe).

The freshman will be worked into the depth chart at WR and RB too. You have to see which QB meshes with the whole offense. They barely got a look at Stephens as well. I think the job is Crompton's unless Stephens can really come out and show them something.
