Why Isn't Oku Getting More Love?

UF doesnt need their backs to batter defenses for 4 quarters.....that is what Tebow is for. They just need their guys to pop a couple 40 yarders here and there, and take a couple to the house, and they are very good at that.

I dont get the Lendale/Reggie comparisons to BB and Oku. BB is MUCH more shifty than Lendale would ever hope to be, and Oku isnt quite as elusive or explosive as Bush was, but could maybe develop into that, who knows. I see them more as a Cadillac/ Ronnie Brown type combo. Both capable of being the starter, and both able to take it to the house at ANY time. This is gonna be a fun group to watch for the next 3-4 years.

I don't think when people say Lendale/Bush or Cadillac/Ronni they necessarily mean exactly the same type of backs. Just that we will have 2 very good backs to rely on, and use in different situations. Obviously they won't be clones of those famous pairs, but they will most likely be a future pair of great backs to compare. In 2012 other teams will get good recruits and say something like....These two backs will be like Oku/Brown at Tennessee......I can only wish.....

I know the "if" game is useless, but what if we pick up Seastrunk?

If we pick up seastrunk, then next year we would probably only be behind USC. And that might be very debatable if Gable leaves for the draft. Florida will have the same RB's, and we will surpass them with Brown/Oku getting a year better in our system, and Noel Devine leaving WVU. I might just wet my pants if we land Lache though.....I think we have a lot better chance with Barr or Clements....Which wouldn't be too shabby of fall-backs.:)

The two comparisons I've heard the most for BB and Oku are Lendale & Bush and Cadillac & Brown. However, I don't think either of them are that good of a comparison. Lendale was more of a battering ram, while BB is a complete back. Cadillac & Brown were pretty similar backs, while BB and Oku are a little different.

I think a better comparison is McFadden & Jones, although Oku may not be as fast as Jones.

Toney Williams, when he's healthy, will get a lot of carriers as the "battering ram" back.

With Toney, Bryce, Oku, and Lache....It would be hard to not call Tennessee "Running Back U" And once that name starts to stick....then more and more 5 stars start foaming at the mouth to play for Kiffin and Co. Going to be a Bright Future!

WOW! We are are much better right? I mean take foster out, and take Harvin out...and Florida still destroys us. How about this...

So if you want to say our Freshman are going to add depth and make us better than Current Florida RB, then just compare Florida's RB when they were freshman coming in....Pretty much equally impressive, except Florida's "Track Athletes" had more YPC because they are simple runners. Oh and Florida's RB are older, and more experienced.

I'm in NO WAY a Florida Fan, I hate Florida with a passion, my best Friend is a die hard Gator fan and has given me nothing but crap for the past 4 years, but I can realize when one team has an obviously better core of Running Backs than the other.

That's got a lot of good stats, but also you ain't taking into account everything. Would you have rather ran behind florida's line or ut's? and with the high school stats, you have no idea about rainey's high school team. the lakeland "gator"naughts. he had d1 blocking in front of him while i don't think brown and oku did lol. but they're less than stellar competition probably makes up. and why isn't tauren poole getting any cred? Kiffin seems to like him, and it don't matter if everyone on volnation hates him, the coach ultimately calls the shots. but excellent stuff big train

Yea I don't bank much on high school stats. In my hometown we had a kid named Mikel Leshoure.....who ran for about 3000 yards his junior year, and had about 30 td's. He set school, city, and conference records. And was a 3 star.....

I mean year his stats make him seem like the next reggie bush, but when you are 6'2 230 with 4.6 speed in Central Illinois of course you are going to run for like 400 yards a game. Hasn't done much yet for Illinois and probably won't be close to a household name but his high school stats were amazing.

Just wanted to compare Our RB with What Florida had just to show some equality with them in high school. Not trying to say they arn't as good because they had a better YPC in high school...in different states....with different offensive schemes....against different competition. And someone could be like injured or sick for 2 games, or whatever factors. And yes I want Poole to be good....But he is so slow I doubt he will be used over Bryce/Oku/Montario/Toney unless we need to grind out a few yards....

Sorry I was wrong, 2,500 yards and 30 TD's. Mikel had 500 receiving yards. Just making sure no one jumps on me.

Thing is Poole is caught in a numbers crunch. And he also has fumbled the ball in scrimmages this spring.
