Why is it no one talks about the fumbles?

The ints do not worry me. They were all the product of pressure. Look at the 5 or 6 plays opportunities Dobbs has had a chance to throw from a clean pocket (like the hail mary). He throws a good ball when allowed to set his feet and not run for his life with a 300lb DT hanging off him.

THe fact he has only thrown 6 is actually amazing when you take into consideration the amount of pressure he is often throwing into. Why is Tyler Byrd showing up so much on film? he has a talent most of out other Wideouts don't have he can get separation on a regular basis better than everyone not named Josh Smith. Malone can break free over the top with speed. Jennings can outfight anyone for any ball. But for the most part since Pig we haven't had a guy that could generate consistent separation other than Josh Smith. Because of this Dobbs is almost always throwing in tight windows and he is not as inaccurate as most seem to think but he is not laser accurate and normally is not able to set his feet because ya know life is good and he does not want to die.

As a senior you cant give the ball away in the red zone like that.

what is him being a senior have to do with him having to throw the ball with 3 guys hanging at his ankles? You are just spouting crap that you heard some talking head say without looking at the actual games and plays.

Dobbs has thrown 6 ints this season... and 23 for his career... in fact, till now 6 was his high for a season. Then again he has thrown for 13 TD's so far when his past season high was 15 (last year). He is currently on pace for almost 2800 yards and 29 TD's. His current rating of 146.5 is the highest of his career (130.5 was his previous highest)

Barring all that I dare you to go back and look through his 6 ints this year and show me one where he was in a clean pocket and not throwing under severe duress. Most times Dobbs does not have the choice to throw the ball away its either chuck it or get sacked.

It is really easy to go to old boilerplate fanspeak. Seniors shouldn't do blah blah a QB should bleh bleh... Yes if he had any amount of protection you'd be completely right but reality is he is making the best of a bad situation.

If you have the football and you think you are running free, better keep your head on a swivel. Until you reach the goal line. This play hypothetically cost us the game.

It really did because if he just finishes, the Hail Mary at the end of the game doesn't have to happen.

I do not think I have seen a UT team fumble the ball this many times. I think in the last 5 games we have fumbled more than I have seen us do it in a season before. until this past game it was kind of covered up by the fact we fell on almost every fumble by us or anyone else.

I remember a certain former Vol who fumbled a few times and was vilified. There is another current guy plays the same position that fumbles a lot more often but gets no hate for it. Now do I think the hate should be there? no but I wonder why one guys drops a couple balls his whole career when another fumbles like once a game and no comment on it.

This is not targeting one guy now... fumbles are a thing that happen a lot on this team. I think most of them are because of the oline (bad snaps bad protection) but a lot have been after the catch. We have had what 2 in the end zone or was it 3? We are averaging like 3 fumbles a game at this point Last year we had 20 fumbles 7 lost.. we are dang near that after 5 games already (iirc we are currently at 15-3).
Because we're undefeated and have recovered all of them but 1?
