The new coaching staff, and yes, we'll get an almost entirely (if not entirely) new staff will have the opportunity to do well in Season #1. The OL will have to, no, make that need to be completely rebuilt. Between Stephens and Coleman, we find a reliable starter, and the pressure will be on to develop Boyd quickly. We should be okay at RB, TE, and WR, assuming the new position coaches know what they're doing.
On defense, the speed is there. Teach them how to tackle, play press coverage, and find a way to pressure the QB, and we're a "top-third" SEC defense. Not that tall of an order.
Special teams remains a question mark, until the new staff proves it ain't.
Looking at the '09 schedule, the right staff should win 8 or 9 games. That's a good start.
I would say the key issue is building a solid O-line. Do that, and we're in decent shape.
Go Vols.
