Why is American Football called American "Foot"ball

No, three players can kick the ball. One is the quarterback. It doesn't happen often. But can and does happen. Quarterback punting -- Ben Roethlisberger did this on November 2013. At Cleveland’s 29 yard line, because a field goal try would be 47 yards into a fairly stiff wind. Tom Brady did this January 2012 when playing the Colts.

Quarterback kicking for points -- Doug Flutie(?) did a drop-kick for one point. First time done since the 1940s, I think. So three players can kick in USA football games.

Actually any player can punt the ball. Single wing tailbacks used to be the punter(John Majors was one). The linemen would have to receive a lateral from a back in order to be legal

Steve Spurrier once kicked the winning FG in a college game

Interesting story from early day of Football, the QB used to kick the ball to the receiver instead of passing it. This was changed when there was a discussion about safety at the White House (I think Theodore Roosevelt was president and called for it). As one of the rules to make the game safer, they invented the forward pass which changed football dramatically (and probably for the good).
