Why have we regressed every game, since the NC state game?

Just curious, why the wheels have fallen off since the NC state game? NC state, so far has proven to be a good team, beating the #2 team in the country at the time. Looking back our defense seemed sound, limiting big plays. Justin Hunter was making catches, Tyler Bray was very accurate. At the time, we looked like at the very least a top 20 football team. Why have we regressed every game since then?

Actually, it is pretty simple. We have played much better teams.

It's a good question, and hard not to bring coaching into any answer for it. I don't know why the team seems to be going backwards.

I just know that I'm getting very demoralized. I have been one of the biggest CDD supporters, and I wear my orange with pride, even in the enemy land where I now live. I'll never stop being a vol fan, but I'm more discouraged than I have ever been.

It's mental with this team at least offensively and I think that is Dooley's biggest weakness as a HC. He hasn't figured out how to get into his players heads. I hate it for DD. Running a clean program but just can't get the players to believe. He's tried hard and I thank him for it. It just isn't working out.

UT didn't close the deal against UF. UT came back twice against UGA and was driving at the end of the game. Those were 2 tough losses. UT then had it's chances against Miss St. but couldn't get it done. The Bama game was over before it was played.

When you lose 3 games like UT did to UF, UGA, & Miss St. it takes it's toll. It's a mental thing for UT now. Can they win at USC? I think they can because USC is suffering a similar situation after a close loss at LSU and getting hammered last week at UF.

You have to bring coaching into it for crying out loud. This coach hasn't coached up any player we have over the last three years. See Tyler Bray as example number one.

Because TN had a month(or all off season) to prepare for NC State this year and Cinci last year.

the offensive line and punt returners agree with this post.

not defending dd. cant defend him. just making a point that your post isnt true.

i think CJC taking over the qbs has more to do with bray than HCDD. CDH was a better qb coach. now hes the wr coach and they have gotten worse.

it was just a few years ago we couldnt run the ball, even a little. and i guess you forgot about not being able to catch a punt.

I disagree with that...you mean JH has gotten worse trying to protect his "NFL image"....rogers has gotten better as well as the whole unit aside from JH

Thinking the team has lost confidence in their ability to win a close game and to confident when they have lead.IMO

Was it a mental thing when the quit late in the 3rd quarter against UF? What possible excuse can you offer for that? Up to that point, including the 1st half of that game, the season had been going great.

The Florida loss took a lot of win out of the Vol Sail. Too regroup against Georgia, Miss State and Bama has been too huge of a task.
