Its apparent that Jones is going to be around for a little while longer but why hasnt he fired Scott? We havent scored an offensive touchdown in 3 1/2 games. That would get you fired at literally any other school. I would think that Butch would have kicked his ass to the curb to at least take a little bit of heat off of him but hasnt and it seems like it has never even been a possibility. Does he just not give a crap? Is this him showing that he has given up knowing this is his last year?

Because once Scott is gone he has no one else to put the blame on.

Did you not hear Jones' presser today? He said play calling isnt the issue. It's players not executing those plays. Gee...who is at fault for That? When it happens repeatedly there is certainty that coaching or the lack thereof is at fault. I agree with one of the posters. If he cans Scott, he loses a scapegoat.

He will find another scapegoat.

"My wife told me to run that play. I will divorce her tomorrow."

You think Currie and Davenport will allow him to do that? He can't do it on his own

I am convinced that Scott has compromising photos of Botch.....which is how he got the job in the first place. What in the **** on Scott's resume made Botch think, "This is the man to be OC".........

If Jones fired Scott mid season it would mean Jones made a wrong decision in hiring Scott

You don't think Jones is going to admit that do you

Because the system is infallible, as long as the players execute, and Scott runs the system, therefore he is infallible; it's a 100‰ player-execution problem.

So Jones handcuffs Scott. Forces him to continue to run his system which does not work without being able to modify it... and you don't understand why Scott hasn't been fired?

Probably two reasons. One, if he fired him and things don't improve then that not only hurts Jones' waning chances of staying at UT... it makes him look that much worse when trying to get a new gig. Two, if by some miracle Jones does survive... it will be in part because he has a scapegoat at the end of the season.

Scott deserves very, very little of the blame. There's a better than average chance that Jones will try to place it all on him.

If I was player on this team after he said that I'd promptly tell him to go f$&k himself and quit cause that's some BS right there

Has TN ever fired an OC mid season? I can't recall it being done. It's the Tennessee way I guess. Just keep your head in the sand and wait it out.

Lyle hasn’t admitted to making a single mistake in the five years he has been here. He’s not going to fire Scott because that would basically be admitting that he made a bad hire. Scott runs his system, and in Lyle’s mind, his system is simply infallible. He genuinely believes that. Just listen to him today throwing the players under the bus. I honestly think he had some type of major psychological problem, such as narcissistic personality disorder, because he does not behave like a normal human being. In his mind, his offensive system would work against the New England Patriots if only the players would stop screwing up the execution. And the reason I call him Lyle is because that is his name...how do you get Butch from Lyle Allen Jones? He chose that name because he thought it made him sound tougher and like more of an alpha male...all signs of his narcissistic personality.
