Non-conference games:
Sept. 1, 2007 W. Kentucky
Sept. 8, 2007 Troy
Nov. 17, 2007 Florida Atlantic
Nov. 24, 2007 Florida State

They have 8 home games. And only one (LSU) tough road game.

I don't care that they play in the mighty SEC, they should be ashamed of this schedule.

Cal won't make it to the National Championship unless they go undefeated.

true. your point? edit: Cal's NC schedule is marginally harder, of course we play 9 conference games not 8.

What was your point? UF's NC schedule wasn't any better last year. They won the National Championship with one loss, anyway.

That's how they always schedule. The SEC schedule and FSU, and then a bunch of absolute patsies. I think they have a future home-and-home with Miami on the calendar, it's mostly games against the Iowa Chess Academy and the Southern Kentucky Institute of Calculator Repair.

I get that FSU is usually good. But come on, at least play somebody like Southern Miss or UAB every now and again. They're sometimes okay.

FSU is a perennial Top 25 team and until very recently they finished in the Top 5 year in and year out.

The other games are weak, I agree, but that is largely because Florida will not play home and home with the 8 home game thing -- too much revenue at stake. The only teams willing to come to Gainesville without the return visit are teams that are doing it for the big payday.

Your non-conference schedule isn't that much better. You got Cal, Southern Miss, Northern Illinois, and Central Florida. I think FSU compares well with Cal and Southern Miss and Troy are a push. After that, the teams are so far below the level of competition it isn't worth arguing.

Cal would destroy FSU. The ACC is horrible.

Fla St. is not the kind of team you want to play.

Your delusion about what kind of program you have is amusing. Florida State was in a BCS bowl two years ago. When was the last time Cal did that? Cal would fare no better in the ACC than they do in the PAC 10. You would consistently lose to FSU, Miami, and Va. Tech. You'd lose more than you'd win against Clemson. Georgia Tech would play .500 against you. Actually, you should thank God you're not in the ACC. You'd be competing for Emerald Bowl berths every year.

Correct. As was said on this board many times after the UT-Cal game, a victory over a non-USC Pac 10 team is not impressive.
I put such a victory on par with winning a game against one of the hyphenated Louisiana schools.
