Why Don't Our DBs Play Like Florida's?

Gray came up under Bud Foster.

Martinez came up under Brian VanGorder.

Which one is still employed as a defensive coordinator this season?

The Gators DBs got lit up just as bad as ours did vs Bama and I think during the 2nd half of our game vs the Gators Dobbs Jennings and Malone exposed them as overrated. In short I don't think they are that much better.

At the beginning of the season, I truly thought that a backfield of Dobbs/Hurd/Kamara would be a trio that no defense would want to tangle with. Of course, all three rarely saw the field at the same time (if ever), most of the time signaled their intentions when on the field and all in all left many underwhelmed at the lack of creativity and imagination form coaching. If you can't run over / block down DLs, then you must out-scheme them.

So this experience, plus what has been stated in this article offers partial explanation for why UT is 8-4 instead of SECE-champions and 11-2 (with 2 losses to the evil empire).

I would say it is a combination of Martinez just not being very good and recruiting misses. The staff really whiffed with Foreman, and Mosely. The injuries to TKjr and Sutton didn't help matters.

It's called being over confident. They start the play thinking " I'm about to get me a pick six, oh no I'm burnt deep." Our offense goes 3 and out. Here he goes again "I'm about to get me a pick six, oh no I'm burnt deep." The worst part, 2 different players. Stop gambling so much, we can stop them without having to make great plays, just more of the regular ones.

Beat Nebraska!

Perhaps if our front 7 played like Floriduh's our DB's wouldn't look so bad...but that's hard to do when you're forced to play 3rd string DT's and walk on LB's.
