Why does it appear that

I’m almost back to believing we’ll be completely underwhelmed with the hire.

I don't follow FL, but I just have a hard time seeing Kelly there. Maybe I am in denial. I just don't see him in the SEC. We will see soon enough.

Florida can get kelly yet we can't get top flight coach. I.e. Gruden

Not so sure Gators will get Kelly. He sure as hell won't come to TN...home of the biggest nuclear fishbowl coach watching/criticizing pack of wolves in the universe.

Our problem may be that we have a crush on the wrong girl. Gruden may not actually be comfortable at the college level...or he may not be willing to leave his cushy gig to enter the above mentioned fishbowl.

I'd be elated if Gruden came here...but I'm worried we may not even be able to get Mullen.

Who wants a guy who hasn't coached in several years and is unproven coaching college football. Would be a very bad hire. People on here are crazy sometimes. The AD hopefully is smarter than that.

Maybe it’s because Kelly may actually be interested in the job. You could replace Grudens name with Belichick or Saban or Parcells. We can’t get them cause maybe they just don’t want to be got.

All I've seen are silly rumors. To my knowledge neither team has hired a coach yet. It remains to be seen if Kelly will get past the SEC offices and into the conference as a coach. I will admit his odds go up considerably if he's attempting to join the gators vs UT, but it's not a done deal yet.

Let's be honest on two points.

First, for a guy who admits he hates recruiting, the UF job is a much better fit for Kelly. Far, far easier to recruit to UF than UT given the instate/local talent. Our instate recruiting has improved greatly and appears to be getting better, but the UT coach needs to be passionate about recruiting if we are to once again run with the big boys in this conference.

Second, it would be a complete shock for Gruden to be a coach here. It just isn't happening....at least in my mind. I'm not certain he's a good fit for the college game especially in a unique situation like ours. We likely would be much better off with a Mullen, Mahlzan, or Fuente than Gruden. Chuckie would win the press conference and we'd be the talk of college football initially, but I'm not sure how we'd do on Saturdays and that's where the rubber meets the road.

Sorry, but I think UT fans are delusional and understandably desperate, but this Gruden nonsense is a fantasy.....ain't happenin'.

I may get fooled (It's happened before) but it may at least be debateable in short order.

I don't disagree from purely a football standpoint, depending on who you guys hire.

Taking the entire athletic department into account, Stricklin inherited something special in Gainesville.

1. Kelky wouldn't play here with thin skin ego. Saw it daily in philly. Dude may be good but he won't change for anything and got him fired in philly. Also his offense was trend setting 6 years ago but everyone has caught up. He will be able to pull in talent.

2. If UF lands him, it's not all bad. Think it ramps up pressure on UT to "match" and not go CHEAP!
