This is some real BS! How can our recruits lose stars before they even play a down their senior year? I noticed Rivals has us ranked 6th and E SUCKS has us at 16th. Nico is now a 4 star according to them? Make it make sense...

I’m sure dropping out of the Elite 11 didn’t help. Doesn’t mean much right now as there will be several re-rankings, even after most players have signed in the ESP.

Truer than many realize. The business of recruiting is sickening. There is a lot of dough given to recruiting companies by certain schools to keep their players up and others down. If ego gets in the way, these kids forget that the long term goals are more important than the temporary bump in stars for likes and temporary notoriety.

You have to go to the sponsored camps to maintain and upgrade your star status! It is stupid but it is what it is! Nico still as good today as he was yesterday or last week or when he committed!

It’s all so trivial… On3 moved Nico up to the #2 ranked player overall so let the recruit nerds speculate all they want.

it is actually pretty simple.....the powers that be think that if a recruit picks UT over BAMA/GA/aTm/etc the recruit must not be very smart so they automatically downgrade them.

I thought all of our 3 stars were going to get a bump! Now they're getting downgraded by a recruiting service ... <wrings hands wildly>

Goodness folks, can we please hurry up with the practice videos showing the 5 minute opening media access period, so that we can wildly speculate on the quarterbacks with footage of 3 throws vs air?

We need something concrete around here.

May be incorrect forum but ….. I ran into Randy Moss last night in Clear Water Brach, FL outside of the resort. I just said hello and my wife and I kept walking, but I wanted to ask him about TN recruiting him during the Manning yrs.

I can’t recall the yr but it was after I graduated in Dec, 1994. Moss was on campus during a snow storm and visited the then “aquatic center.”

So there I was, on a dark and stormy night on December 15, 1997, watching the Heisman Awards show...

It's very notable you don't ask how players gain stars over time (one cannot happen without the other).

Given the number of stars is pretty static...this should answer your question. Some progress over time (all these guys are quite young and will quickly develop or not...it's all relative).

Yeah...no. Nico just skipped camps and went up. Arch did the same and stayed #1. Seldon has basically never camped, lives in the boonies, and yet 247 has him in 5* territory (#30). Keep theorizing.

Recruiting services can keep their darn stars. I wants W‘s. And lots of them. I think the players Heup is landing are just the right fits to get more wins. The rest will take care of itself
***stars correlate to Ws***

Not the end all be all, but a strong correlation nonetheless.

The Blue Chip Ratio is undefeated since it has existed, for instance.

In all reality, stars mean nothing....

There is a direct correlation between top 5 programs recruiting the most 4* & 5* players. It’s not just a coincidence that Bama, GA, tOSU, & OK, maybe ND are usually top 5 recruiting classes, and are usually in CFP hunt each year. Really crucial that TN lands a top 10 class. If TN recruits are being dropped down in stars it’s because they’re not camping. Recruiting services are lazy & rely on Saban, Smart, Day, Dabo & Reilly to aid them in their player rankings.

Who is E SUCKS? I follow 247 & Rivals most. Follow On3 somewhat, like how they give NIL potential. Most recruits given NIL value at 10k or less.

Watched a podcast of Nico a couple weeks ago. Can make all the throws. His frame reminds me of Tony Robinson. Any of you geezers out there remember him? Sure Bo & at the time #1 Auburn do!!!!!!
