Look guys those of you that are freaking out because we havent landed those recruits that have been on campus to visit these past few weekends & because we have some of our commited recruits wavering a little bit just need to take a chill people & calm down. Kiffin has been here for 2 months, the whole staff has been here a whole month do you guys really think that is enough time to get some of these kids & there parents to trust them? No of course not! Were fighting with other schools that have had 2 years with these kids. I didnt expect us to land a big class this year when Kiffin was introduced but just like everyone else when he started getting those big name guys coming to campus it got my hopes up some.

We need to understand that this current Vols team does have some talent on it, no its not up to par with Florida, Georgia, Bama, or even LSU but what are coaches paid to do? They are paid to coach kids up no matter how good or bad they are. Now we have some of the best coaches & recruiters on this staff right now. This coming season is just going to show how good of a coach each one of them really is. Its not all about recruiting, do we want the best players across the country to come here yes of course but it doesnt mean jack if you cant coach them up. Ask Fulmer he knows thats why he is at home jobless right now.

totally agree. That's what I like to hear from our fans. A little positive thinking and let the coaches do what they were hired to do. Rome wasn't built in a day or in 2 months for that matter.

I agree (apllause) and i will remain positive but the cow college is in the same situ as TN, and we are losing players to them? That hurts!

tell it to the Negative Nancy's and while your at it the Positive Peters as well!

The program is getting pointed in the right direction, but this ship was starting to sink and CLK can only pump so fast!,,,its all good right now,,, even if he only signs a few more, it will be more scholly's for next year!! I would rather have fewer quality guys here now than 25 or more that end up riding the pine later.

It is hard to expect recruits ,who are making the most important decision of their life, to change schools so quickly. Most of the time the relationship between a player and a coach goes for a long time. I totally agree with what you said. People need to take a chill pill and let this one ride out. I commend him on the job he has done thus far.

You have to have warm bodies before you can coach them up. I wouldn't be freaking out if UT were getting 4 OL's in this class even if they didn't sign one of the skill players everyone seems to be focused on.

There is nothing truthful or reasonable about ignoring the realities of the roster and depth chart.

I think all the hype about the Big visits has given everyone a false since of security. They think everyone that visits is ready to committ. Most of the kids taking visits are just getting the free rides. I seriously doubt any of them don't know where they're going long before the visit at this time of year. I think we'll do ok but a top 15 in recruiting this year will be a win. Next year will set the standard as far as recruiting goes. Still hoping for some surprises but I'll go with my head not my heart. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!:clapping: BEHIND THE COACHING STAFF 100% :good!:

i would rather be thin this year and have room for studs, (we can build relationships with them over the course of the spring and fall) next year...

Well said,and I agree.

All I'm waiting to see is what kiffin knows that we don't.
Why,certain decisions were made and how it all interweaves together.

Great post. But it might take Coach Kiffin a Year or Two to really get in these kids homes. Still hope we get one or two of these kids. Go Big Orange.

The only problem I have with this thread is trying to understand how Auburn is tearing up the recruiting trail.

I have to agree the lack of linemen in this class is the biggest disappointment and will have long lasting effects.

I'm sure the new coaching staff will take some negative criticism about this class once the dust settles as they should. I for one think swinging for the fences is great for homerun hitters but you still need to get and keep guys on the bases to score runs. Thus in most respects our coaches current recruiting strategy has scored little.

I am more than willing to give them a fair chance, but in this class " we are the best recruiters ego" has fallen short of closing the major prospects and allowed current commits to look and go elsewhere.

We can all say give em time but keep in mind the clock is already ticking. GO VOLS

i think we will be fine. this years freshman would not play THAT big of a role this year. We have a solid top 15 team now. the new coaches will bring new excitement on the field. This year top 25 class, next year top 10, then hopefully top 5-7 every year. we will be just fine.

We do have USC and UAT's recruiting coordinators. Maybe they're just sandbagging until Wednesday.

We didn't fire Fulmer cause he didn't get it done in February. It was the other 11 months that he didn't seem to care about.

Obviously the staff doesn't see our OL situation as a big deal. Maybe just maybe they know more than we do about how to fill out a roster. I'm sure they're quite aware of the depth at OL.

Fulmer's success in February was getting suspect as well. How many times did we count sign and place guys? Lots of highly ranked guys washed out do to discipline, academics, poor performance...than last year's recruitment debacle was just a preview of the season's debacle.

It would have been great if all these coaching/recruiting studs could have pulled a miracle, but this is a staff built with a longer term plan in mind. If we just wanted to maximize this classes potential in terms of rating/rankings Kiffin could have just kept a bunch of Fulmer's assistants. I think most everyone would agree that Kiffin's staff on paper is an upgrade at almost every, if not every position. Their's no quick fix available for the state of this program. We have to upgrade recruiting process and on field performance and discipline/character of the team in the class room and around the campus.
