Why did we have ACC officials at our Home Game?

I thought is was strange to have an ACC team plying in our house and they brought ACC Officials. Any one else notice this as we had double the number of penalties, many of which were deserved, than Pitt. Also a very bad spot late when we had to go for it on 4th check the tape he got the first and had a very bad spot. Noticed a lot of holds not called against Pitt. Not using it as an excuse we fought hard (which is an improvement) but just thought it kind of smells

I think it is pretty standard to have refs of a "neutral" conference officiate games between teams from different power 5 conferences. I think that is decided when the AD's negotiate the home and home

I’m sure that’s just what was negotiated because of it being an OOC game. Probably get an SEC crew next year.

Let's forget the calls against us, and assume most were just. It's the none calls against Pitt that concerned me. Those non calls had more effect on the game than calls against us. Along these lines, we seem to have a reputation for holding and it seems we get hit with it several time more than who we are playing. I wonder if officials look at "numbers" in prepping for a game and think/say "gotta watch Tn. they do this a lot".

It wasn't just the questionable calls, it was the inconsistency and lack of game management. I thought they had the look of a teenager who just learned his girlfriend is pregnant. Very lost in the woods, I saw high school crews do a more professional job Friday night. It did effect the game and the flow. TN did make some mistakes and blown executions, but momentum was constantly disrupted by the Punch & Judy show in stripped shirts.

Yeah but Pitt is in the ACC so that's not neutral.

It's pretty standard that a P5 visiting team has an officiating crew from their conference. Pretty sure an SEC Crew did the LSU at UCLA game last week and an SEC Crew did the Vandy at Colorado St.

Games at a neutral sites and bowl games usually either have spilt crews or a completely different conference crew.

We complete those three long passes in the first quarter and none of this matters No one to blame for this but ourselves

Other than Steve Shaw calling our games, I don’t believe in intentional biased in reffing.
