Why did everyone give up on B.J. Coleman after playing in part of a game?

I'm not saying I'm a big supporter of his or that you shouldn't have given up on him, I'm just wondering why.

Why do you believe people gave up on him?

Mainly because some people "know" that none of UT's QB's have talent based on their play behind an OL that couldn't block anyone consistently and in a system that none of the players ever seemed to "get".

IMO, one of the 3 current QB's will start with the edge going to Stephens or Coleman. I think the fact that Crompton only has one year left will hurt him with Kiffin unless the other two really are terrible.

i never did really see enough of coleman to have an opinion of him. i will say that he was definitely more mobile than i expected. also, i don't know if it was just me, but his release seemed really slow at times

Kiffin is the best news BJ has had since arriving at UT.

The seniority system is gone.

we're not going to be building our team around any of our current QBs. I think Crompton will play next year in a very simple offense (that is able to get the running game going).

I think we'll get a big QB recruit next year and go from there in 2010.

One boneheaded pass mainly. I think the reason we didn't see him during UK was because Fulmer was trying to prove a point (IMO). He definitely had another dimension that the other QB's didn't have with his mobility, but I have a hard time believing Kiffin won't recruit someone better.

Just saw Jwells' post never mind...

I haven't given up on Coleman. I think he or Stephens one will be the QB next year. I also think they will look totally different. Remember the difference between Ainge's 2005 and 2006 season under Cut? Man, what a good QB coach can do.

I just don't think Crompton is very coachable. I believe Cutcliffe even made that statement.

Of the 3 QBs, Coleman showed the most mobility, good footwork and hung in the pocket and took multiple reads.....but.....then he tossed one to the wrong guy....that pretty much was Phil's worst fear with him.

I think Kiffen will have a good look at BJ, but I suspect the other two are done (hoping).

I never gave up on him, but Fulmer never consulted me regarding his PT.

He's pretty raw at QB and the new system that Lane is bringing in is not going to help him. It will be a while before he will contribute IMO. (If he does at all) Nick Stephens is probably our most talented QB right now.

I didn't give up on him, I still think he has one of the better chances of starting next year. Depending on how he improves and who we get as recruits this year. I don't fault him for the game he played in, he didn't get to throw the ball near enough to show whether he had potential or not, IMO.

I Grew Up With BJ And If Cut Would Have been There This Year We Would Have Never Seen Crompton. Cut Told BJ When He Signed He Would Be Starting QB Within Two Years. And NO ONE On Here Can Say Cut Doesnt Know QB's. IMO, BJ's Style Looks Very Similar To Manning. Just From What We Saw Of Him In The Vandy Game, And From What I Seen Of Him In High School, He Is By Far The Most Mobile. You Can't Judge Him Because He Threw That One Interception. How Do We Know It Wasn't Miss Communication Between Him And The Reciever.... And Yes he Had A Foot Injury The Kentucky Weekend
