I was all for getting rid of the old staff and I'm excited about the staff we have. However, a few weeks ago there were people on here spouting off how we were going to "steal" all of these recruits from Fl, AL, LSU, etc. and how awesome it was that all of the other SEC coaches "feared" our new staff. Now when it is apparent that our class is going to be in the bottom half of the SEC, everyone jumps on the "wait till next year" bandwagon. I question our staff because of the way they have let some of these kids "go". They should be questioned.

they has a month.. whereas other schools had a year...

To even get names like that on the hill is a big deal...

These recruits want to see what we will do here.. not just hear it.. Once we have a season in the books under kiffin it will help our future recruits understand the offense here and understand where they will be used..

Everyone got excited about all these recruits and rumors..
but noone expected to get all of them.. we will be fine..

stay the course..

At least wait until NSD to see how it all pans out. We don't know how it all went down. It could be that our guys were just encouraged to look around out of fairness to them. I expect some of these guys (Oku, Thigpen, Stokes) will stick with us in the end, once the dust settles. You have every right to question.

Everyone needs to chill, IMHO.

What most of you don't understand is that getting these "high profile" recruits on the hill is a game for the coaches of the teams that they are already committed to or are going to commit to. I had the pleasure of putting on the pads for four years for our beloved orange and it has been going on for years. The other coaches are interested in the "spill" of the new blood in town and want to find out what they are saying. I hate to burst your bubble, but that's how it goes. We had virtually NO chance with any of those guys.

A lot of them we had no chance with anyway.

We were not on some of those lists before.

No, that was to prove a point. That has ALSO been going on for years. Saban and CLT were actually pretty close and this pissed Saban off, so he held out his "high priority" recruits. It was down with Carl Pickens back in the day because of a similar situation. CLT was the recruiting coach for Richardson and McCarron. Its a GAME guys............

With some kids it takes a couple of YEARS to convince them that UT is the school for them...We just made some big time changes and in the last month have been going after some recruits that have been committed to other schools for months now...If your expecting miracles with this first class then your delusional...Most of this class is Fulmers kids so next year and the following years are Lanes and the other coaches catches for Us...Relax and enjoy the ride coming up.

Those people are not part of the coaching staff...

The coaches are doing what they think is best for the system they intend to put in place. Furthermore, we don't know all that goes on between the staff and recruits and we do not have access to all the information on recruits that the staff does. These things must be considered when 'questioning' there motives.

Well the problem is you have idiots on here trying to act like they know everything when they don't know jack. They just want to be able to go to their friends and people on volnation and say " I told ya so". I agree you should be able to question but honestly there is nothing you can do about it. All you can do is just wonder and speculate what their motives are, but like I said some people on here know everything. If we don't get a good class this year ohhh well maybe next year.

To take your point a step further, I think it is harder to pull the out of state kids in this short amount of time, more so than the instate kids. We got Gordon, and have a good shot at Teague, and Brown.

You made a good point.

I agree. But I do fault CLK for spending too much time on recruits and were apparent locks for other schools.

I like a homerun like the next guy but a base hit is better than leaving a man stranded on base (I don't know why I use a baseball metaphors for football...).

He did swing for the fence with some of these guys.

I do think we finish second with some of them and in the top 3 with a lot of the others. Good signs for the future.

You know, honestly, I hear people say that but I don't see how that is beneficial at all. So, what am I missing?

If we finish 2nd and 3rd to current prospects, how does this make the future bright??? Is that new math??

because 4-6 weeks ago these guys were not even entertaining the idea of visiting UT. Now we are in their top 3. In a month man! That is huge! These guys have been committed to schools for almost a year and they came to UT to see what was gonna be happening in the future. And all of them said that this staff is going to do good things. It is just hard to develop that relationship that is so important in one or two visits, it just isn't gonna happen. The classes in the future will be our bread and butter.

Name 1 recruit that committed to TN under CLK that we have lost? The recruits we have lost were committed to the previous staff and the recruits we were going after in 1 month would have never given us the time of day under Fulmer. Apparently some on here feel that we should go ahead and sign recruits that was under the previous regime whether they fit the new staff and scheme or not just to say look what we got.

nearly everybody in every conference i talk to which is mostly pac 10, sec, big ten. all are just like me, they believe kiffin lost this class when he told boyd to take a hike. watch what the kid does for clemson. it was a bad move. there are 8 sec teams having better recruiting seasons than we are. and for the most part they are recruiting there needs, not like us.

Well if we were not in the minds of those prospects before and we are now then I would say that he made some good ground in a little amount of time. So that should tell you that a year from now we should be so far ahead of the game it wont even be a contest so we will see:eek:hmy:

You are dead on ChampyVol. You can't act like you're Knute Rockne when your head coaching record is 5 -15. It wasn't like Boyd and Petty weren't good players. That sealed the deal for the downward spiral. Do you not think that these recruits talk to each other????
