I know as a VOLS fan, I want us to beat every team by 50 pts, but realistically those teams come to play as well. Until teams decide to forfeit games, they are coming to the field with a win in sight. Now, many will not be good enough to win but they will play to win.

So many on VN are talking about how horrible we played. Yes, mistakes were made and there is room for improvement. But we came away with an impressive win. Do some fans not recognize that BG did not score a touchdown? There were no mentions of an "upset alert" since we took care of business.

I've always said that the first game could go either way. Even Ohio State had trouble with Minnesota. Even if every game ended with us getting 2 points, but we win, I would take it and call it a winning season as it should be.

Am I concerned? Yes, because I know greater teams loom large and are ready to make their own statements against us. There is room for optimism. CH did not expect to not see room for improvement.

After watching the game, I think Milton has to show out in the next 2 games. CH will not tolerate a remake performance of last night. If Milton doesn't get it done against Pitt and TN Tech, someone else is going to get the nod.

I'm hoping Milton takes all of this seriously.

Hats off to the DL and OL! When was the last time our QB had that much time in the pocket? The last few years, JG was running for his life and we faced so many 3rd and longs.

I hope our guys build on this momentum...

Because many posters on this board fully expected Tennessee to go hang 70 points which is ridiculous to me. Year one of a new coach and the first time since the bowl game against Northwestern that Tennessee has beat an FBS opponent by 30 plus points is enough reason for me to say thanks Heup!

Don't disagree at all. I thought we could and should have put 60 pts on BG. I think if Hyatt catches the passes he dropped we view this game a lot differently. Those lead to a TD in the 2nd quarter and one in the 3rd rather than a field goal.

I think the old adage the most improvement is from the 1st to 2nd game will be important. Had lots of time to throw and lots of open receivers, so that is a positive sign. I think Milton was a little too casual with things at time, especially about making decisions to run.

People keep saying wait for him to get blitz relentlessly and how bad that will be. I think that will actually be a good thing. If you blitz this guy and he has runs to the space where it came from and gets into the secondary he is going to do some damage to someone.

So I wanted more, but as a fan we always do but I am looking to see what the Pitt game brings. If same issues are lingering then, maybe have some discussion about Bailey or Hooker.

I know it doesn't tell all the story but I didn't care for Milton's sideline demeanor. I would have preferred him reviewing notes and at least talking with coaches whether on the headset or sidelines. Maybe he did and I missed it, but it doesn't seem like he is fully committed to being the best player and leader for this offense.

The pointing and the tom brady flat footed stuff was kinda cool....on the other hand everything else was very very poor from Milton. Also disappointed seeing Hooker as the second option.
I could be entirely wrong, but don't know that just because Hooker played, that it means he's the solid #2...maybe they just wanted to see him get some reps? Outside of his mobility, I couldn't help but wonder how Bailey would have done...I've always thought he's a pretty accurate passer, with a really good deep ball, but maybe not as mobile as the others.

This was a game where the WIN was understood against a team with no victories, an official scrimmage, of course we are going to rate the performance. It's not a "win is a win game". The opposing coach even ran clock at the end of the game. I have been interested to read both the good and the bad reviews of the game, if there weren't any then I would not bother to spend my time here.

Why can’t we enjoy the victory? Why can’t people be happy? Short answer: This is the internet, where people come to rant, rave, and vent their frustrations. It’s always amusing to me when people expect the internet to not complain.

Evans look great. low sinner of gravity. Milton will start to do better when has to roll OUT and pick a recever. Can get the ball in any window he wants

No, they don't see how bad we were. It's in their minds because many want to keep kicking us and not let us rise up. What is so bad with the game? Were mistakes made? Could passes have been caught? Absolutely. Could we have thrown with a little less lightning? Sure.

There are only so many minutes in the game and BG used that to their advantage by finding plays to run down the clock. Will Bama be labeled as a bad team if they have us score? We are going to score on Bama, GA and FL. We just have to score more to win.

I won't throw in the towel because we did not trounce our opponent the first game we played. CH will look at everything and make adjustments.

Which by the way, was great to see 2nd half adjustments being made that were favorable to us.

Very simple, I believe most fans like myself expected to see results similar to Kiffen's opening game against WKU. We didn't get that. The fact the halftime score was 14-6 was very disturbing and a situation where the final score is misleading to the actual progression of the game.

For the youngins who don't remember Kiffin's opening game - Western Kentucky vs. Tennessee - Game Summary - September 5, 2009 - ESPN

Why can't we both enjoy it and critique it?
It's great to critique it and find hope in what we are doing. Also, there are going to be flaws to be improved.

But a true fan will not close the books on the season over one game. That's demoralizing and not fair to the guys who came to play. We shouldn't expect perfection. What we did see was a team who kept finding ways to stop BG and score. It was a breath of fresh air.

Same here. I believe he thinks he's the second coming of Cam Newton. He is not...

I had us winning 34-17 so I’m pretty happy. Better offense and defense than I thought we’d have with obvious room for improvement.

I’m sticking with my 4-8 prediction but it’s year one. We would have had to hung around 60+ for me to up it.
