Since offense wins games and defense wins championships, its a given we arent winning any championships this year. Our "D" will be a bend but dont break style (which I hate) that focuses on creating turnovers. We have the atheletes in the secondary to cause a few. The "O" should be clicking by week 3 so teams better be ready to play or a few upsets will be going our way. We beat Arkansas because Wilcox knows a thing or two about facing strong air attacks, we beat Florida just because I said so, and S.Car will not beat us at home. Do the math and that could give us 9 wins! Wait.......whats that noise????? Damn alarm clock just woke me up! It is possible though.

I really can't see us taking more than 1 of our three against the West. Even one would be cause for celebration. But against the East. . . there's not a team we can't beat. Now I don't think we'll beat all of them, but Georgia and Florida don't exactly have their scariest teams ever, and Carolina is certainly beatable at home.

I think any of the top four teams in the East can beat each other, and I think no team will go undefeated in the SEC. It won't be a clear path to the top. USCe might have a better team this year, and UGA might have more marquee talent, but they play in Neyland. I'm marking LSU as a toss-up, too. The odds aren't factoring in the power of payback and 100K screaming fans wanting it bad. I believe we'll dig deep and give them a game.

We will win 9 games because we're Tennessee and Derek Dooley is our coach. size=1]Posted via VolNation Mobile[/size]

We've had two 9 win (or more) seasons in the last 6 years. Our record during that time is 41-35. Over the last 3 years, we are 18-20 with 2 losing seasons in 3 years. I'm not sure DD can even coach, we are average at best along the front seven while our LBs are well below average, and we don't know how to win anymore.

Based on the above we are an average team and we will most likely win around 6 to 7 regular season ballgames. I hope I am wrong.

Not going to happen. We face the 3 best teams from the west. I know that last years game has given some folks false hope about LSU game this year but lets be realistic. Alabama is years ahead of us at the moment, Arkansas is more talented and deeper. As far as the east goes, I could see us finishing 2nd behind SC. 7-5 is most likely outcome. I think we are more likely to finish 6-6 than 8-4 but even thats not totally unrealistic like the 9-3 scenario you suggest.

I agree that 8 wins, however difficult and against whoever, is necessary to keep this train on track. The statute on "next year" expires this year. Eight wins this year and more next seems to be the general expectation.

Hope you realize demanding 8 wins means you are demanding the team win all the games its favored in (6) and pull off two upsets.

That doesn't sound like a base line, that sounds like a pretty good coaching job if you ask me.

This season is going to be a wild one. I think the offense will be a force and our D will be much improved in year 2 with Wilcox, but getting LSU and Arkansas is not favorable. I honestly would not be surprised if we won 9 games or even 10 games, but at the same time, I would not be shocked if we just beat who are suppose to beat and win only 6. GBO!

Hunter, Rogers and Bray give reason to be optimistic sure, but to proclaim them a force is a bit premature.

I do think Pool is underrated and the O line should be better

Sure, it's aggressive, but we set our own bar. If you're going to build a 100K stadium, expect to fill it while you keep raising ticket prices and demanding large donor fees, charge students for tix, retain a $100 million+ budget, support some of the best athletic facilities in college football and be on the cutting-edge of building new ones, you'd better put out a product that makes people happy. Season tickets cost a lot more than a 50" Samsung.

Actually, this is probably the last year 8 wins is going to cut it. That's the reality of treating college football like big business. Dooley gets it-- that's why he refers to putting product on the field.

we have 8 games at home this year if are fans can just rally behind the team and be as loud as we are advertised to be we can win all 8 of are home games and win at kentucky thats 9 wins and i dont think carolina can handle 100,000+ crazy fans on the road and i think are team will be so motivated to kill lsu and are fans will be really loud that game that will be an upset and georgia wont beat us in neyland because they never can let go vols and we need to all rally behind our team because we are a couple defence of players at winning a championship.!!!

this is the best chance in years to beat florida---new coach, new system, their talent is way down and UT has a better QB, RBs, WRs, etc.

While you may be right, this is also the first start in Bray's career against a formidable opponent. This game often sets the tone for the season. Although FL is changing schemes offensively, they are still stacked with talent & their defense could give Bray & company fits.
