Overall, I'd rate Ainge's play as very good this year. He is completing about 65% of his passes, throwing for over 275 yards a game, with 10/2 TDs/Picks.
His mistakes, however, have been huge when he has made them--the Cal fumble that was returned for a TD, the Arkansas St. INT return for a TD, and whatever part he played in the fumbled handoff against Florida. Blame the OL, the running game, or the pinky if you'd like, but there is still some room for improvement from the QB position.

I doubt even Tebow could have held onto the ball with the spear in the back EA got at Cal, we won the Ark ST game so why does that matter. And as pitiful as our defense played , if that fumble hadn't happened it probably would not have mattered. The WHOLE team could use so improvement, but who else in the country couldn't?
I'm not bashing Ainge; I like the kid, and his play is certainly not at the top of our list of concerns. But he should have gotten rid of the football on the Cal fumble before the hit, and hitting a DB in the chest with a football is a bad play, whether you win the game or not. In 3 of our 4 games, he's had a hand in an error that cost our team points, and that is a little concerning. I don't think he needs to skip the film session.
Cotton, Cotton, Cotton  your posts are usually pretty good. The Cal defender was totally untouched and came from his blind side way to quick. He never saw him. I'm all for QB's (as a former LB) taking responsibility but this was on the Oline and the RB.

Ainge did sort of lock in on the right side of the field, but there was no pocket to collapse though. The Left Tackle doubled inside and never even got close to the blitzer.Vid of the play:
Follett sack and Williams fumble recovery - Cal vs. Tenn 07
It is quick, but note Ainge's pump. Ball should have been gone with the pocket collapsing.
