..we appear to be dead last in the conference in recruiting with 3. Any intelligent thoughts as to why that is? I know it's June, but a lot of players are commiting early. Just concerned, Thanks in advance.

I have to agree with what's been said on here before. We don't have the in state talent. If you look at those schools, you will notice that most of their commits are from in state.
BAMA, GA, Florida, LSU, TEXAS, MIAMI.

Not to mention, we have not done much lately on the winning side of things.

If we could somehow pull off a 9 win season it would help our recruiting out a ton. But can we get 5 conference wins?

Until the NCAA ruling comes down, I don't expect many commitments. I know if I was being recruited or one of my kids, I would at least hold off to see what comes down and how severe.

Momentum is key. Being a program on the rise is better for recruiting than being a good program that isn't going anywhere. People like hopping on board when it's on the way up.

But I do agree w/ the General. Even though most don't expect the football program to get hammered, that uncertainty is holding us back right now.

Be patient.
Remember, by the end of June last year, we only had four. Besides, there is much uncertainty with the NCAA and their investigation. We'll be ok (I am speaking in regards to our recruiting, not the outcome of the investigation).

I think we have a shot at 6. Im not sold on Arkansas taking us to the woodshed.

Four non-conference wins! Four conference wins!
Then a bowl win and we total 9 wins.

Buffalo
Montanta
Cincinnati
MTSU

Vandy
Ky.
U$C ???
UGA ???
LSU ???
UFA ???
Ark ???
Bama??

I think we'll be fine for the most part. Dooley is one of the best closers in the business.

If there is noone left to close on....being one of the best may be all for not. There are ALOT of Tennessee in state kids with offers. I wonder why other SEC schools are filling up with in state talent. Hope things work out in the end.

why is there a thread about this every day? just asking

Because there hasn't been a reason not to post this thread. Hate to say it, it sucks to see that we don't have as many recruits as other teams. But yeah I am one of those that says that we should wait it out a little bit longer.

It is beginning to look like this staff has a strength of evaluating talent and a weakness of closing on the commitments.
