I was either too young, or just wasn't in on the loop. So why do we hate these Vols:

Kelly Washington
Arian Foster
Gerald Jones
(not a vol, but) Trooper Taylor

Arian Foster is just a grade A D bag. Since he's left, all he's done is b**** and moan about the way UT fans and coaches treated him. He believes he's more intelligent than the rest of the world. I can go on...

I wasn't aware that there is dislike for Gerald Jones. Washington and Taylor were "me before the team guys". Foster fumbled at critical times once or twice.

Didn't Jones advise a recruit stay away from UT?

I also thought it was him?

Kelly Washington got a lot of hate got being a primadonna but dude performed like a champ.

Foster got a bad rep for fumbling at bad times. Since then he's had a lot of negative press about UT.

I can't remember all the reasons why people disliked Trooper. But I remember one of them came from older folks that didn't like "coach chestbump" running up and down the sidelines with his hat on backwards chestbumping players. I guess they thought he should have quietly golfclapped after a 70yd td.

Kelly had a big piece on College Gameday where he labled himself The Future. A neck injury lead to him never really living up to the hype. He still holds the record for most yards receiving ever in a game at UT.

Arian has just sort of always been an odd cat.

On G Jones I had no idea he was hated

On Trooper I never really understood the hate he gets. IMO he was a breathe of fresh air is those later stale CPF years

Allegedly, Trooper Taylor (while at Auburn) had Gabe Wright (DL recruit) speak to Gerald Jones who steered him away from UT. Gabe apparently gave a commitment to UT coaches the night before signing day, then flipped on signing day, leaving us out of options. This was (again, allegedly) all orchestrated by Taylor.

I think that Trooper was popular at first, but seems like he was kind of demanding to be promoted to OC or something. I really don't recall anybody having an issue with his towel waving, chest bumping, backwards hat wearing, and being the enthusiastic guy as the caboose on the Vol Walk. I think that he fell out of favor by making a lateral move to another school.., Ok State before Auburn I think... unless I have that reversed. Then his kid had prima donna issues at a local west Knoxville high school. Trooper might have threatened legal action because the kid was kicked off of the team for refusing to cut his hair as the coaches expected of all of their players. They're a special family.

Jones bad version of the story is that Troop had Gabe Wright and Tiny talk to him before making their decisions and he told them not to come to UT.

Jones good version of the story (his) is that he told both guys all the positives of UT AND all the positives of Troop as a coach and mentor figure, they picked accordingly from there.

Troop was obviously already polarizing but, if you believe the bad version of the the Jones story above, it's easy to see why he'd be even less liked.

I thought Casey Clausen would be on the list. I was prepared to defend him. But thankfully it was fumbling Foster as the headliner. I can't stand that dude. As for the Kelley Washington. 2 things why I hated him. "The Future" self promotion. And more importantly that he waited to see if Donte Stallworth was going pro. Once he did then he declared he was coming back. Donte wanted to change mind to play one more year together but Washington basically threw him and us the bird.

It's crazy that I had forgotten all about the Trooper Gabe Wright incident. I remember hearing he was pissed not getting the OC position however.

I guess all the years of diet soda, alcohol and insomnia are catching up with my brain. How did I forget that?

You have a forgiving heart or you didn't want Gabe Wright anyways so you quickly erased him from existence. Lol

Casey has gained a HUGE hindsight fanbase. Lots of fans didn't like his laid back west coast attitude even though he went 14-1 on the road at UT. Being in the wilderness from 2008 to present has made countless fans realize how special of a player he was.

Yeah the KPD and our football program did not mix in those days. I have a Bammer friend that still likes to call us U Thug U from those days.

LOL I also remember us being called Teflon TN back then.

That was "Good Fellas" IIRC

That sounds right. I know I was at Bar Knoxville. DJ played nothing but Rocky Top & Callin' Baton Rouge all night. LSU crowd was fun that day.

That was during the short period of time when Jamarcus Russell was a hoss IIRC
