So tonight I'm going on these other message board that I usually frequent and I'm just noticed how un-liked Manning is by people. I really don't understand this, and it's not just the Patriots, or inner-division teams, it's generally all the people on these internet message boards that are talking about how glad they are that Peyton lost, and how he'll never win a Super Bowl, and he chokes in big games.

What is up with this? What exactly has Peyton done to make a good amount of NFL fans, outside of Indy fans, not like him?

My first reaction is how good he is. People hate to give others credit, and being the best QB in the league will generall get a negative reaction from everyone outside of the Colts fans. But reading posts at these other sites, they're talking about his attitude, how he acts so cocky out there, how he looks to blame his WR's when he throws a pick, how he overrides his coach on numerous occasions etc.

Its sickening to me, I just may be a Manning homer but he's never brushed me the wrong way at all and although he torched my team the past 2 years in the playoffs and I generall dislike the Colts, I'm still going to root for him and want him to succeed and win a Super Bowl.

I dont get it, anyone else have thoughts or insight on why Peyton seems to be an un-liked player?

I think it is a lot of things. One of the biggest being jealousy. Some people are jealous that he is not the QB of their favorite team. Others are jealous because he does nothing but work as hard as he can so he can be the best that he can be. I would also say that people are a little tired of hearing about him and how great he is. The fact of the matter is, some people love to see others fail. Especially when they are that good at something. I would imagine here in the next few days, we will hear about how Peyton choked and can't beat the Pats. He can't do it by himself though. Peyton didn't lose that game. The Colts lost it. If he never wins a Super Bowl, he will still be one of the best who ever played his position.

A driver's ed instructor I had a while back was a ball coach at a local high school, and we talked ball a lot. He said in every single situation, no matter what happens, every thing that happens in football comes down to coaching. It's a coach's game.

The Colt's coaches lost this one. They should know better than to expect a Super Bowl win playing well on only one side of the ball. Dump some of the salary off the offense to make room for talent on the defense and get back at it next year.

That dude is a double threat. He can coach his team to a win and then expertly drive the bus home.

I think there is a law that says Assistant football coaches must have a side job as either a Driver's Ed instructor or Sex Education teacher.

There must be. ALL our coaches here teach in the health and PE departments. The only exception is the varsity boys' soccer coach who is a math teacher.

A break from the norm: my Economics teacher was head football coach and the Golf coach taught Calculus! Of course, all 4 or 5 of the Driver Ed instructors, all the PE teachers, and the Study Hall emporer were coaches.

My first words when my wife told me she was pregnant were "Damn - Coach Adams was right."

:dlol: A phrase like that can never be good...

Anyways, forget about the Manning hate. No matter who wins the super bowl, he is the best QB in the league, even if he doesn't have a good team to back him up. Let's just hope Indy changes some things around for next year and they can make a Super Bowl run.

Hey, Marino never won a Superbowl ring. Look at all he did. If he ever even played for a Super Bowl win, it couldn't have been many. Coaching and supporting cast. One guy can only do so much.

Everybody hated Marino too when he was on top. Some people just need someone to hate, it's really sad.

People love to hate the best.

Peyton Manning
The Patriots
Jeff Gordon
The Lakers
The Yankees

Most of the things I mentioned I even hate, I guess it's just human nature to want to see the best fail.

You can add to that list: Tiger Woods, the Atlanta Braves, Duke basketball etc....

I've always thought that rooting against somebody just because they are good is fine. Just always be willing to acknowledge their greatness while you boo them.

Hands down, you're absolutely right. I've never heard him criticize a ref, a teammate, a coach, or anyone other than himself when things go south. He sets an example that the Randy Mosses, TO's, (might as well throw in Sprewell as well) and all other athletes should strive for.

He'll get his Super Bowl win sometime - I have no doubts about that.

I used to think Joe Montana was the best QB I'd ever see play the game. Now I know better - when it's all said and done, Peyton will clearly be the best QB in NFL history.

Colts just need a d so they can make it to the big one.

For real, 8 and 9 minute drives really kept Peyton out of it.

You are correct. Only time I ever heard him say anything about a teammate is when he called his Kicker a "liquored up idiot," and with good reason, a damn kicker made comments about how Peyton and Dungy dont seem to have the desire and heart to win championships.

Manning should've ripped on Vanderjagt some more, calling him a idiot kicker shouldve just been the start of his rant about how dumb of a statement that was.

Peyton will get his ring, Colts shore up their D a bit and it's theirs for the taking.

But...you were incorrect about something, John Elway is the best QB of all-time ;)

id say johnny unitas. not elway. the only reason elway won his superbowls was because of terrell davis. montana is ahead of elway.

Saying Elway ONLY won because of Terrell Davis is like me saying Montana ONLY won because of Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, Dwight Clark, and John Taylor.
