Not for nothing... But they have a couple of NFL tight ends as well...Return practically everyone from a pretty good D in the second year since transitioning to Smart's scheme. Return 3 very good RB's and most of their OL. Return Eason plus all 6 receivers with more than 111 yds last year. Two deep has a lot of 3rd, 4th, and 5th year players.
They have the talent and experience. Doesn't mean they'll win but they have far fewer questions than UT or UF.
I despise UF so I have to be really careful not to let my bias creep in but I just don't see whatever it is that others are seeing in their roster. QUOTE]
I think it's the offensive roster that has people thinking big things for Florida. This is the biggest accumulation of offensive weapons since 2009 (Tebow's last year). Playmakers, experience and depth everywhere especially at the skill positions; three SEC-proven RB's, Calloway/Powell/Cleveland/Massey at WR, Goolsby/Lewis at TE. The QB position was the question, the addition of Malik Zaire was huge. Between Zaire and the potential of Feleipe Franks, the QB situation is promising. Oh, and don't forget Del Rio, who looked solid early last year before getting seriously banged-up. If nothing else, he provides a great emergency off-the-bench guy. The O-line returns everyone including big-time bookend future NFL tackles, and depth/experience inside.
For the first time in a long time, Florida seems to have an offense that can carry the team.
All you did was confirm what I said. UT and UF have unknowns and put their hopes on the performance of new players in new roles.I despise UF so I have to be really careful not to let my bias creep in but I just don't see whatever it is that others are seeing in their roster.

Hmm, I think they missed a few.
Proven play makers for 2017, whom we can reasonably expect to make game-changing plays (because they've done so, several times, before): John Kelly (almost as proven going into 2017 as Hurd or Kamara were going into 2016, and certainly going into 2015, imo) ... Shaq Wiggins (no one said he had to prove his talent while wearing orange) ... Jauan Jennings (mad man)... Todd Kelly, Jr. (interception machine) ... Evan Berry (kick returns) ... Trevor Daniel (punting).
So I'd say not two proven playmakers, but a handful. All of whom have changed the complexion of games in the past, more than once.
When you count them up, it's not much different than the number than we had in 2016. Just the next generation pushing through. Only thing we're missing, really, is a star QB. And maybe we'll have one by the start of SEC play.
They said these things were true but that his routes were not crisp and there is no proven QB to throw to him. I say throw it up and let him to fight for it.

Regarding Florida, how many times have we had the better roster and had home field advantage and yet still lost?
I know, This year is different, right? I have heard that the past 11 years and only one time has it led to a victory for us.
We play well at times against Florida, but once they verbally abuse us on the field, we lose confidence and start to doudt and they end up winning.
I have seen our players hang their heads in the forth quarter even when we have the lead in the game. It is because the Florida players talk trash and convince our players that they can't win. So, they begin to doudt it.

I think they're overthinking it a bit, like they're looking for reasons to validate what they think, even if the reasons themselves aren't particularly valid.
Jauan gets off press coverage better than any WR we've had in a long while primarily because of his physicality. And he gets open, a lot. And he makes big, game changing catches, a lot. His route running is only gonna get better. He'll be a playmaking game changer, again, barring injury. And am I the only guy that thinks Byrd has great ability and is about to put up big numbers? I can easily see JJ with something like 65/1,000/8 and Byrd 50/850/6.
Also, I think they're significantly underestimating QD. 3rd year in the program, calm/quiet demeanor, big, accurate arm. I think he's gonna do great and deliver the ball in generally better spots than Dobb did to put our guys in better spots to make plays.
At the risk of being accused of forming a mutual admiration club, you nailed it.
I'll add one more name that no one seems to be talking about. Brandon Johnson. He gets open. He catches the ball. He's one of those guys who doesn't seem to have the great measurables but has some kind of "it" factor.
