I am! I just mentioned in another thread its still probably going to take one if not two more recruiting classes to get us out of the hole we were left in as for as depth and play making talent.

In this past years recruiting class we worked mainly on the defensive side of the ball with 10 or 11 of the signees slated for defense. This coming signing day will be for the offensive side of the ball Quarterback, Receivers, Offensive Linemen, kicker. It will then take the 2011 Class to fill in what holes are left and add depth before we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The staff is not the problem. The defensive players are not the problems. Hell, the WR's & RB's are not the problem. Its the QB & O-Line and I thought the O-line played okay yesterday, they just faced 8 in the box.

excellent post, too many people forgetting about the talent that was not there to begin with. We simply have too many question marks on the offensive side of the ball to be a dominant team at this point.

it will take time but when you are in a league with Saban and Urbie who can come out and compete immediately you REALLY, REALLY have to ask what the previous staff was doing on the recruiting side of things to leave this big of a whole. And as unfair as it seems Saban, Myles and Urbie are the measuring sticks - too bad people around here can't understand the differences in those situations and ours.

Did saturday suck, yes. But they didn't quit - we just simply didn't have the depth to keep up with their d-line; another point that everyone here wants to forget is this is that UCLA is in their 2nd year of rebuilding.

Go VOLS, I'll still be wearing my orange for the game saturday...will you?

I think Crompton is the worst football player that has ever played. This kid is a cancer to our program and needs to not play anymore. The kid looks like he is trying to throw the game everytime he plays.

and if you have a kid playing on one of the local high school teams and somebody said that to you, please tell all of us how you would feel,or your kid would feel.
think before you post a stupid post like this.

Bad QB play (turnovers) may kill UT's season if Kiffin doesn't adjust. Fulmer, Spurrier and Miles all made the same mistake last season by setting their bad QBs up to make enough turnovers every week to lose the game. Finally Fulmer adjusted and found ways to get and keep a decent running game going with minimal dangerous passing and got a couple of wins against pretty good Vandy and UK teams. Spurrier never did adjust last season. Miles finally switched to Jordan Jefferson from Jarrett Lee, but prior to that LSU should have been running the ball more and throwing it less. Kiffin may not have a viable option better than Crompton, but if he keeps calling for Crompton to throw the football all over the yard it could be a long painful season. You've got to throw with enough success to keep the defense somewhat honest, but with a struggling QB the best way to do that is to mix in just enough fairly safe/easy play-action possession passes on 1st & 2nd down to keep the defense guessing. Crompton will be under less pass rush pressure that way and must be coached not to make any high risk throws. Figure out which play action pass plays/routes JC's best at and stick to those for the most part. With a good defense, it's better to punt and play field position rather than repeatedly increase the odds of Crompton putting the defense in tough situations. Stay conservative, pound the rock with Hardesty, Brown and Oku and count on the defense and special teams to create a few short field opportunities. JMHO.

I agree but the O-line has no quality depth that's why we couldn't score close to the goal line late because our guys was to wore down to get enough push. We need some big time lineman!

A good season with a Bowl game is still easily attainable. We will play few teams with a DL and DBs as good as we saw with UCLA. We were able to run the ball successfully until Crompton made mistakes and lost us all confidence in the passing games.

We have another 4 to 5 teams on our schedule that we should be able to physically dominate in the running game enough to let whoever is playing QB to make easy throws with no pressure.

6-6 or anything better will show good, steady improvement to recruits but I would personally be disappointed in that record with all of our defensive talent.

I just can't come to grips with the fact that we can't find a QB who doesn't lose us football games. The OL couldn't even be blamed as they held their own against a tough DL in tough situations and the playcalling was fine.

Qb is the main problem with pass blocking running a close second. Crompton made some bad passes and horrible decisions. The o-line was getting owned in the middle by bryan pryce. What is worse is the gator interior line is better. Going to be a long day next week on saturday.

And that's not Kiffin's fault we wasted scholly's on guys like Carson Anderson who was offered b/c his family played at UT. Or tht Fulmer left the Center position so decimated we have to play a local kid who's 6-1 260 and didn't get a scholly till this spring.

They'll be fine once a half decent QB is brought in and the OL talent is seriously upgraded. We opened the season with 2 walk-ons starting on the interior of the line. That tells you there's a problem. And guess who had to go up against an All-American DT yesterday?

Not having enough push to get that fourth and 1 really sucked, but it wasn't that long ago that we needed to convert a fourth and less than 1 against lowly Vanderbilt to ice a game and couldn't do it. At least UCLA has a good DL.

I'm still excited about the direction we're moving. I really think we may have top fifteen talent everywhere but the qb position.

The D is legit. The season lies on the shoulders of Crompton.

GOOD Cromp can beat anyone but Florida.

BAD Cromp may lose to Ohio U.

The only people down on this staff are those who still support the Failmer regime.

These guys will get it done eventually. I have all the confidence in the world in them. Give it time, a couple of recruiting classess and, for heaven's sake, a quarterback.

I'm no coach or evaluator of talent, but it seems that a 5th year Sr could get the basics handled by now. As far as the team and coaches, I still believe in them and everyone needs to try to remember that, like it or not, UT is still a work in progress but will come around after a while. I know that most people aren't patient, but sometimes, you just have to be.
