Vonn Bell listens to parents and picks Ohio State (with video) » GoVolsXtra

I was reading this article and at first I was thinking that parents get too involved. It reminds me of the whole Bryce Brown fiasco. Then reading more into the article you start noticing that Bell started talking about National Championships and the NFL. If players parents push their children to play for certain teams for fame and fortune then that should throw up a red flag for the child. If I was the parent I would tell my child to pick what he wants and makes him happy. If I have learned anything about the last 10 or more years is that playing for National Championship teams does not always get you to the NFL.

On a side note. How many Super Bowl QB's came from a National Championship team?

His recruitment is absolutely nothing like Bryce Brown's. he simply chose Ohio State over Tennessee, get over it.

and nobody in their right mind can blame him for that, basically.

Not the approach I'd take at all.

All I'm saying is that if my child wanted to play for Tennessee all his life and I wanted him to play for Ohio State. I would leave the decision up to him. I would ensure him that Championships and the NFL is not a sure thing. Injuries and unforeseen circumstances can that put that into doubt. I will not be holding your hand, that I will not be able to. The choice you make is yours and yours alone. It's your life. I will be here no matter the decision, but the choice is yours to make.

I didn't write this thread to put Bell down, Ohio State was his choice. I don't see it any more stable a program as Tennessee right now, due to the fact you never know about Urban Meyer one day to the next. You do not even have to choose teams like Alabama, LSU, USC, and Norte Dame to get to the next level. Some of the best players ever didn't come from National Championship teams.

The kid made his choice and it wasn't to be a Vol. Now I will make my choice to not care why he did it or what happens to him from here forward.

Can't really love the Vols n turn his back on them. How does that work in a true vol player mind. Is just stoopid to believe he was a vol fan

If only Eric Berry's parents had steered him to OSU he could have played in the NFL, and maybe signed the largest contract for a DB in NFL history..... oh, wait...
