We need to see wholesale staff changes or retain Graham and Pittman which I agree with and I think everyone on the board seems to want? I think if you hire a Gundy or an offensive minded coach you are going to have to have a proven commodity at DC period. If we go Strong or a D guy vice versa...thoughts?

As long as they don't let his sorry ass call plays. I'd rather Chaney be shown the door.
This is the best our rush offense has been in Dooley's tenure and I believe Chaney is as responsible as Graham and Pittman. He led one of the most potent offenses in UT history behind is playcalling. Sure he had some questionable ones, and he even said there's a few he'd like to take back. Chaney has grown and matured in his playcalling as a result of his time in the NFL and the SEC.

Yeah, thats the main thing I have against Fisher. I think he is an offense guy. I would rather have a defense first guy. Then, hire an offensive mastermind as OC (or just keep Chaney and company.)

Name calling is pathetic. His utter lack of creativity hurt this team (although sal was much worse). He called horrible plays to try and maintain ball control, abandoned the run game at every available opportunity. You are blinded by numbers. I'm far from a moron, and I know a thing or two about football. Qb coach sure, coordinator maybe as long as he's not calling plays. Preferably neither. We set records having to score 50 against terrible opposition. He didn't ever do squat to keep that offense on the field when the d needed to recover, he went vertical constantly with no outlets. No creativity putting the ball in CPs hands..

But I don't expect you to agree, since you have to call me a moron because I disagree with your wounded, frail ego. I can get why all those numbers look so great, and I can watch a game and see how we could have been so much more effective. I'm sorry you can't.

Did I say he's the best OC out there? I said the guy was more than serviceable, so for you to act like he's worthless is just as foolish.

Would somebody give me an example of a new HC NOT firing all but possibly 1 hold over coach and then bringing 'his' staff with him? I would be shocked to see more than 1 exisiting coach being here next year..

I didn't say he was worthless, but I believe he did a terrible job doing what the team needed in critical situations. I say he's less than serviceable. I want a guy who knows how to help the team when it needs it, not run verts with no outlet on third and half a yard.

I don't think he's our best option at OC, and I hope he's replaced with one that is competent in pressure and critical situations.

Only 2 factors to consider:
1. Proven track record as a winner. I would say at least 5 yrs. You cant even get a regular everyday job w/o exp.

2. Big "name" coach for recruiting
(most important factor IMO)

Jim Tressell
24 yrs HC exp
229-79-2 record. 75% win pctg

Championships
1 Division I-A National (2002)
4 Division I-AA National (1991, 1993–1994, 1997)
1 OVC (1987)
6 Big Ten (2002, 2005–2009)

Awards
12 coach of the year awards
------------------------------------------------------
Bobby Petrino
8 yrs HC exp (he also coached 1yr NFL)
75-26 record. 75% win pctg

Championships
1 C-USA (2004)
1 Big East (2006)
------------------------------------------------------

Mike Gundy
8 yrs HC exp.
66-35 record. 65% win pctg

Championships
1 Big 12 (2011)
1 Big 12 South Division (2010)

Awards
Big 12 Coach of the Year (2012)
-----------------------------------------------------

Larry Fedora
5 yrs HC exp
42-23 record. 65% win pctg

Championships
1 C-USA (2011)
1 C-USA East Division (2011)
------------------------------------------------------
Charlie Strong
3 yrs HC exp
24-14 record. 65% win pctg

Championships
1 C-Big East (2012)
------------------------------------------------------
Jimbo Fisher
3 yrs HC exp
30-10 record. 75% win pctg

Championships
1 ACC (2012)
------------------------------------------------------

Those are the facts on what seem to be the top candidates that could reasonably be hired. There are other intangible factors to consider as well, but these are their coaching histories.
