Got it!!! I kept trying to remember of whom Jeremy Banks reminded me. Finally, I remembered the guy. A hard charging, hard hitting, periodically penalized DB - Ronnie Lott. However, Lott was practically an interception machine as well. Something, Banks hasn't often deposited into his account as yet.

Any old-timers remember that guy?

Absolutely! Ronnie Lott was a beast. Does anyone remember that he had his pinky finger amputated because he didn't want to miss game time for a broken finger?

I remember Lott. And as to the three descriptive terms you heaped upon him? Absolutely, and Banks has gotten there. Now, I feel Lott was a bit more disciplined that Banks has yet to arrive at. However? I believe it is within his grasp.

I have to admit at the first of the season, I still had profound reservations about Banks. There is still enough in his body language and personality that had me on edge that had me worried he would repeat his very public incident we are all aware of. By the halfway point of the season, I began to feel more respect for him, and stopped considering him...a "kid" and started t view him as more of a man. He seemed more mature. It is tough for anyone to overcome a poor first public impression. One bad night can burn a bridge, and it takes time to build a new and better one. I think all he needs now is a couple of coats of orange paint before we cuts the ribbon. And I am glad he has come so far.

Yes Banks is a hard player. The silly 15 yard penalties need to be dialed in.
They are game changers, and not in a good way.

Actually think he reminds me of Vontez Burfict.Im not sure size stats all that both of em like to thump,love football,play hard and will get a few penalties in the process.

Wasn't that Lott that hit a Chief's receiver head on and crush the guys face mask and broke his nose?

Old timers remember Night Train Lane. Lott is not THAT long ago or is he? :(

I agree. I had the same feelings but have also come around to believing he has greatly improved. Maybe in the off season he and the safeties can protect the midd of the field from slants and QB from draws.

I don't know about the comparison since Lott was a Safety, but "old-timers"?......dang that hurt.

Banks could use some help, no doubt about it. But to get him the help? I am hoping Heupel gets 100% definitive on not leaving. The delay on being able to commit recruits has taken a big enough hit over the self imposed investigation. I believe most feel the odds are long he would leave for Oklahoma, and he has made a few reassuring comments. they song has been heard before. But since we are yet to hear the words, "I am not considering any other offers ect ect ect" come outta his mouth? The door is not locked and sealed, and no biting dog is keeping someone from turning the knob. That is what it is.

But hopefully, Banks will have a few guys like him ready to back him up. He is doing well, but he is just one player.

Banks has been a pleasant surprise.
One of our few “ alpha males “ on defense.
A few years ago when he was a RB, the first
time I saw him carry the ball, I thought of Travis Henry.
Unfortunately, ball security was not one of his long suits.
He did have an interception last year and looked really
good running with it.

Speaking of Banks, I hope the entire defensive staff gets some love and appreciation from the top Brass. I don't want to see the DC take some job, for more pay, when he's still building his resume, here at UT. Lets keep recruiting, get the Garner coached D-Line in place with depth and talent, let Willie Mo, scout talent like the old 2-star days (dudes still ballin with the 9ers), and lets get this Jean-Mary-fart-in a skillett, up and rolling!!!!

I remember Lott very well. I like what banks has done also but I wouldn't put him on a level with Lott, at least not yet. I saw Lott put one guy in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Pull up some replays on youtube of Lott and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I want Banks to act a bit more radical pre-snap. We need him to scare the sh*t out of the QB and attack when the ball moves. Then you celebrate after a good clean play.

You can't be serious comparing Jeremy Banks to Ronnie Lott in any form or fashion. Banks couldn't carry Lott's jock strap lol.
