Whoa National Guard Troops going to Memphis

After thinking this over a bit, I'm not in favor. It seems designed to bring civilians into conflict with military which will escalate civil unrest instead of ease it. Having lived in Memphis for ten years, I'm in favor of anything that will help reduce crime, but it needs to be handled by law enforcement not military.

I thought I saw you power walking when I was there last week.
It’s more of a power prance.

And apparently I’m going to be forced to have a word with the local Girl Scout troop responsible for border control. Not sure how you got past the checkpoints…

But ultimately, the city doesn't want to succeed, and the state is doing everything in their power to make sure the city fails.

Until that dynamic changes, the feds aint gonna change a damn thing here...
100% agree. I’ve been here over 15 years now. There are so many Memphians (from all walks) that actually embrace what Memphis is - they celebrate it. The “grittiness”.

And yea, the State just sabotages the city further. So, you get what we have here.

I posted thoughts in other thread.

City is an absolute war zone but the federal overreach should worry the hell out of any small govt conservative...
This is one of 3 or 4 issues that, as a small government guy, doesn't worry me at all.

In fact, i find it odd that yall are so concerned with it. Weird being on the opposite side of an issue with folks I tend to have a lot in common with.
