Who would your ideal 14th team be??

My ideal 14th would be Notre Dame.

I know it'll never happen but hear me out.

Who would be more fun to beat every year in football?

Would open substantial new viewing markets for the SEC.

And best of all, the ND homer sports writers (all 10,000 of them) would have to give more love to the SEC because ND is in it. Because ESPN.....well look under my username.

A very close second would be USC. I know it will never happen but imagine the Devil, Monte, and FOrgeron having to come to Neyland every other year.

Just close you eyes for a second, and imagine the reception for the Devil and co. running onto the field...oh what a beautiful thing that would be!! :dance2:

In a dream world for me personally Purdue...only an hour away and my family are all Boiler diehards...not EVER going to happen but I can always dream!

Other Personal Choices (All based on nearby location to myself): Indiana,Notre Dame,Illinois and Louisville

FSU.
They are in the east, helps with realignment.
They are the only "name" program in the South that isn't already a member.
Since Miami has no following it basically kicks the ACC out of Florida.

Va. Tech. I have a bunch of friends there and love some good smack talking, plus I think they'd be a good team to bring in and shame into middle-of-the-pack mediocrity. Their recruiting in Hampton Roads would probably get even better with the whole SEC thing to sell though.

As long as we play Bama every year, doesn't matter to me, although VT would be nice.

I guess I'm just a traditionalist, but I would actually want a school from the SOUTHEAST if we had to get another member. Texas A&M is a tolerable choice because SE Texas is close enough to pass the geographical test and the football culture at A&M is pretty good, too. If I had my way, there'd be no expansion (and that includes A&M), but I can accept that. I could never accept Notre Dame. I won't even talk about that other school that you mention ... can't believe that anyone would even consider putting a California team in the SOUTHEASTERN Conference.

If we had to get another team, I think Virginia Tech, Clemson, or Georgia Tech (an originial SEC member) would be ok. Don't know if any of these are even feasible. Just wish we wouldn't expand any more. Why mess around with what is already the best conference in the Nation?

I like FSU in the spot, texas tech might also be worth mentioning, give A&M that in-state rival it needs. And then there's Clemson. 16 Team conference, we know it's headed there.

My true dream would be Texas, Oklahoma & Ok.State will never happen but could you imagine that football conference.

Clemson. They are a southern program and I think fit in well with the identity of the SEC. FSU would be okay with me. Missouri makes sense, still.

Southern Miss. I know it will never happen but if it did, they would run MSU and Ole Miss further into the ground. I don't know what it is about USM but they are a cool team to cheer for for the 25 and under crowd.

Nobody. Give A&M back and leave the SEC just the way it is...the best football conference in America. Too bad it's got to be about $!

The school that makes the most sense for UT is VT or NC. Opening that media market would open recruiting wide open and geographically UT is in the best position to take advantage. There have been a LOT of good recruits coming out of NC lately.

I'd rather stay at 12, but the SEC forgot to ask me. Since we're asking about 14, I think I'd rather just go on to 16. In this order:

Oklahoma (because screw the Longhorns)
Virginia Tech (best team in VA)
North Carolina (might as well get all the states)

Ideal would be to not even think of a 14th team and tell A&M to F off and stay with 12 teams.

I know it makes no sense in regards to TV & recruiting markets, but I would just like to see the Wramblin' Wreck back in the fold.

Would love to re-new the annual series between the Vols and Jackets. It would also be cool if the annual GA-GA Tech game had conference title implications.

Before all you youngster pound me into dust over this...I'm more into tradtition & rivalries than TV revenue. The SEC will always have money rolling in, but this expansion frenzy has the potential to dismantle many of the great rivalries & traditions which made college football great, in the first place.

We've brought Texas A&M into the fold and acquired the Texas market, in the process. That's great! The SEC added revenue, exposure and reignited the old SWC rivalry between A&M and Arkansas. Home run...

Now, let's balance this thing out in the SEC east by making the GA-GA Tech game have SEC implications (as it always should have) and reignite the fires that once burned between the Jackets, Vols & Tide.

By adding Tech, the SEC could have its cake and eat it, too.

Which of you fans can get your blood boiling for a game with Missouri or West Virginia, anyway?

Would you REALLY rather drive to Columbia, MO or Morgantown, WV for a conference game on the road? Or, would a weekend jaunt to Atlanta in October (to watch the Vols smack around them Wreckers) be more appealing?

Think about it. (Smoke em if you got em, fellers. lol)

I would like to see North Carolina OR Missouri. If it were Missouri, then move Alabama AND Auburn to the East and Move Vandy to the West.
