Have outstanding pitching. Great pitching still defeats hot bats.

Guess we should have brought in Beam in the top of the 7th.

Lesson learned: Frank Anderson must take a chill pill prior to every game, because we need his up close and personal assessment of the pitching staff.
Hate to say it, but CFA could’ve learned that lesson earlier in the season

Spot on with the adage that’s been around since the invention of baseball…”Great pitching beats great hitting every time”! Ole Miss pitching staff looked unbeatable down the stretch!

Usually true … but the 1990s Braves did there best to disprove that adage.

True! They were really really good over the course of the seasons with Maddox, Glavine, Smoltz, and Avery. But, in the really big games...they did lack the 99+ mph flame thrower. Smoltz was the closest. That game they lost to Twins (thinking it was a 10 inning 1-0 game), remains a heart breaker.

Heck, the game they lost last night was a killer. Within one strike of a 2-0 victory and lost 5-3.

Did they have some injured players that they got back? When we played them their team ERA was over 4.
Ole Sissy changed things up with their rotation late in the season. DeLucia became the Friday guy. They inserted a Freshman lefty and adjusted roles accordingly. It worked. They got hot on the mound and at the plate and rode it home. It happens almost every year, a team gets hot late and makes a run. What really sucks is that inbred state stuck in the 60's has now won back to back titles. I believe its the first ever title in a team sport for both. I know it was for State, could be wrong about Sissy.
