Who wins the SEC East in 2016

My order of least confident victories:

Georgia
Alabama
aTm
Florida
Feel good about the rest as long as we show up ready to play.

We have no business overlooking the road games in Athens and College Station. Those will be difficult games. Winnable, absolutely, but definitely lose able too.

Strong post. Accurate. People are overlooking those two back to back road games.

Tennessee clearly has the most talent of any teams in the sEC east and the best QB---the winner of the UT-Ga game decides the division title. Tenn should beat fla easily this year.

Totally agree. I see us handling Florida, but Georgia will be very tough at their place. As I pointed out above, I think that is our toughest game of the season. And I'm not taking anything away from Alabama in saying that.

We always play Georgia well, even when we're at a decided talent disadvantage. See 2013 and 2014. Otoh, we pretty much always find a way to lose to Florida no matter what. Jmo, but I like our chances vs Georgia with a new staff and likely a freshman QB much more than vs Florida in their second year with McElwain.

The Vols have as good a shot to win the SEC east as anyone, but Atlanta's sports talk 680 says it's not going to happen for the Vols, they say the Vols won't survive October's brutal 4 game's.......I'm hoping this is the year of the Vol, it's about time, no?
Go Vols

Don't you need to re-think what you just said, that's what I thought!

If we go 10-2 as most predict, no trip to Atlanta.

If that record were the case, I doubt anyone from the East would be holding an 11-1 record.

10-2 while also holding a tiebreaker from any of the other 6 might even be unlikely.

That is the thing. I think CKS understands the importance of this game in establishing the near term pecking order in the east. And, the fact of how they lost to UT last season. I think they will be as amped for this game as any game they play this season. The crowd will be amped too. It will be a tough game that definitely is winnable, but it will be a tough game.

Team goals for 2016, culminating in the one this thread started off about:

0. Participate in biggest (most-attended) college football game in history (0 because it's a lock).
1. Break Florida streak.
2. Break Bama streak.
3. Break the losing streak to SEC West teams (related to 2, but independently achievable)/
4. Defend Neyland: 7-0 at home.
5. Double digit wins.
6. Win the East.
7. Win the SEC.
8. Get into the CFP.
9. National Championship.
10. Undefeated season.

I think we achieve at least 5 of these 10 goals (plus Bristol, the lock).

As long as it's not two losses UGA and UF 10 and 2 with one loss to a west team I think we're gonna be in ATLANTA

I think 6-2 gets Vols there no matter where the losses fall. I think UGa and UF are 3-loss conference teams with the new QBs.

I say we lose to Alabama & Florida again but we are the S.E.C. East rep. in Championship game. Florida will lose three S.E.C. games this season but not to us.

IMO, this is the order of likelihood that UT loses to a team this year. I do not think they will lose more than two. I also don't think they make ATL if they lose to UF.

UGA
Bama
TAM
UF
VT

I think there is virtually no chance UT loses to any of the others barring extraordinary injuries.

You know it was Mizzu's SID that picked them to win the East.

Article noted that SIDs were not allowed to vote for their own program.

Here is how the SIDs see the East division playing out this season (they are not allowed to vote on their own teams).

Worst 4 teams in the SEC are in the East, down year,
so it should be easier than usual.

#14 Vandy
#13 South Carolina
#12 Kentucky
#11 Missouri
AND the NEXT worst is
#10 TAMU

SURPRISE, they are ALL on our schedule this year. Add All that up, we're talking 8 wins out of the gate. so getting a couple of surprises to get to 10 wins is very reasonable.

Florida.

Yeah, I said it.

Gators have a good shot. Your defense again will be stout. Our offense struggles with it.

Offensively, the line is a year older. Good skill players, Not GREAT... but good.

Keep yout QB healthy and you guys will be right in the mix.

Lose to GA and a West team you can forget it. No way GA loses 3 SEC games. Ole Miss, and maybe FL. and that is it. Auburn just doesn't have it this year. GA, not FL is the key game this year.

Not counting the West teams in the above statement.

We will beat the Gators like a rented mule in Knoxville. Toughest game besides Tide is Georgia on the road. Don't see us coming out of Athens with a W. So we better be hoping Ole Miss, Auburn and the Gators get them or with our 2 losses being to the Dawgs and Bama, Georgia has the tie breaker and goes to Atlanta. That's how I see it playing out. Unless the Dawgs lose all three of those games they win the East. But in a perfect world we take the Tide out and probably play Ole Miss for the title unless they are on probation by then. :)

I would not concede UGA as a loss.

UGA fans don't feel very confident in beating the Vols this year.

I would put TAMU higher than #10. Certainly recruited at a higher level than all but 3-4 teams in the SEC. They have QB uncertainties to be sure, but so does most of the SEC. I would have TAMU no worse than #7 or #8.
