Who will play QB next year?

It was pretty obvious that Boyd doesn't seem to be the type to fit the pro-set offense that Kiffin wants to run. I think he knows he has a QB in Coleman that can run his offense. I don't think throwing a pick 6 and getting jerked out of the game was the best move for developing any kind of confidence for a red shirt freshman QB. Coach Cut was very high on Coleman and very cold on Crompton and there is a reason. Give him a chance to get comfortable and I think you will be satisfied. It has been reported that thee was a rift in the staff over playing Crompton this year and with Cut last year, and Cut knows what he knows!

First, Crompton's expoits are well documented and I think it's fair to say he can't get the job done. Some of the things we saw him do on the field defy all logic (Ground balls, the patented "throw the ball 20 yds out of bounds on third down") and have nothing to do with line play. Coleman succeeded in throwing a picksix on one of the five passes he got to throw. Stephens showed at least some promise but apparently had a bad attitude. I don't disagree with your assessment of the other positions on the field, but the Qb's deserve a large share of the blame.

Well considering that was Coleman's first action against a good secondary shouldnt be held against him. One of my good friends work's with Coleman's mom. Coach Cutcliffe was very high on Coleman and supposedly warned Fulmer about Crompton. I think with the right coaching that Coleman will be very sucessful. Maybe not like Manning or Ainge but could turn out to be a very solid and effective QB under the right coach with the right players around him. Kiffin will bring all 3 of those to the table when he completes his staff.

Another thing to remember is, from what I am hearing out of Knoxville from a friend of Dave Clawson's, he was never allowed to run anything even close to the offensive system he used in Richmond. Fulmer evidently kept his foot on his throat and was always in command. This seems completely logical to me considering our history of boring play calling and ineptness on offense lately. And, it was bad play calling that lost us the SEC last year!
It is pretty well confirmed that Clawson told Fulmer after the UCLA game that Crompton could not et the job done, and he almost resigned 5 games into the season until Fulmer talked him out of it. The other thing rumored to have been confirmed from a source inside and outside of the system, Fulmer had made a deal with Cromptons parents that he would start at every opportunity this season. I wish I knew the reason! I am reserving my judgement of Clawson and hoping we get him at UT Chattanooga. He built a great program in Richmond and they are back strong in the playoffs this year.
