Who do you really believe will be the next coach at Tennessee?
We could talk forever about who would be a slam dunk hire, or who you'd love to see in orange. I want to know who you actually think will get the job.

Like most of you, I rarely know what I'm talking about (all subjects included), but I'm gonna make the prediction that Coach Cutcliffe will be our next guy. He'll finish with maybe two more wins this year at Duke, and that will be just impressive enough to get him the love he wants.

I'll oblige and follow the "rules" set by the OP.

Here is the list I came up with just briefly:

Stockstill -MTSU
Smart - Alabama
Malzahn - Arkie State
Swinney - Clemson
Strong - Louisville
Fedora - NC

All the: Stoops, Gundy, Gruden, Brown, Tubberville, Peterson, and Patterson talk is simply a pipe dream for various reasons.

Of your list, Strong is the only one I'd really like. Maybe Fedora after a few years at UNC.

Objectively speaking, I think it will probably be Kirby Smart or someone similar (as of now).

Check the biggest thread in this forum. All the info is there.

Have you read those posts? That's why I started this one. Surely people aren't serious in there. Bob Stoops, Chip Kelly, Pete Carroll...
I can name a dozen coaches I'd like, just like those people. Doesn't mean I think any of them will actually happen.

Well if we're operating under the assumption that the "big splash" hire is off the table, I have exactly 2 names.

1.) Gary Patterson from TCU

2.) Charlie Strong from Louisville

I think both of these guys could do great things here.

I do NOT want a coordinator! I want a proven coach! Tennessee should not be a "learn on the job" destination.

You can't be serious putting Rick Stockstill on the list. Also, Tubberville is hardly a pipe dream for any SEC team.

I agree with Brave. Tennessee should not be a that type of program. You've put the wheels in motion to get back on the right track. Its time for my "Step 2". I really think you guys should consider Swinney.

2 Points:

You're damn right I'm serious about Stockstill. He's in the budget and I think could handle a bigger stage.

#2 TT should have never been ran out of Auburn and Tech was damn fortunate to get him. He'd be a damn fool to go back to the SEC now, and this fan base, although at times is pretty bright, have proven to be nothing short of mouth breathing idiots in regards to how good of a coach he really is. They view him as a retread that couldnt hack it at Auburn, thus they dont want him. Go look at his "thread" and see for yourself. Your buddies disagree with you.

All that being said, Ears wont come back to the SEC.

There is no way in hell Rick Stockstill would be considered for any SEC team, hell Willie Taggart would be 100x's better and people even question if UK would hire him at this time.

Tubbs is great if you don't want to miss a bowl season but are ok maxing out by going to a Capital One bowl.

Hey guys, I just made the list of who I thought would be probable candidates. Who you hire and who you like is all yalls deal. Some on there I think would be good, some bad. I think some would turn you down too. In the end, its none of our choices to make. I want whats best for the program, but I'm trying to look at it through the perspective the OP asked. Realistic possibilities. I wish Hart luck though.

If you didnt have to "Google" Dooley, I'll commend you. Otherwise, I think the statement in bold is pretty silly.

It's because of Dooley that makes my statement make sense. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

I don't disagree that your list is mostly realistic. I just hope that we don't hire anyone on that list with the exception of Strong.

I keep seeing Bob Stoops' name thrown out. Please, please, PLEASE God don't let that happen.

I live in the west coast and watch a lot of PAC12 ball as a result. Stoops is a raving lunatic on the sidelines and looks like a jackazz. I can tell you west coast teams like UW and UO And UCLA and others used footage of him foaming at the mouth as a recruiting tool. They took recruits from him, and the Sabans and Muschamps in our league will figure that out too.

He got fired for a reason. Please stop this rumor, he's an idiot and belongs at JUCO.
