K. Riley is leading 62% to Crompys 38% now.

Ha! A Cali homer! Thanks for posting this though. Over here we try to stay away from ESPN but it's an interesting poll.

Realistically, I have to go with Riley, mostly because he has better talent around him.

it is the correct choice based on each player's conf :whistling:

No, "we" don't. "Some" of us do, yes, but not "all" of us.

How'd Crompton and Riley end up alone in that question, anyway? Tennessee and California the only two schools to have QB battles leading into this season?

Glad to see North Dakota, New Hampshire and Deleware have Crompton's back!

All states that are very abreast on their college football knowledge. I feel much better!

I thought it was a little strange too. I guess because they were both named as starters on the same day?

Don't know enough about Riley's fall to comment. How has he looked in scrimmages?

he's been very much improved apparently and so have our WRers. i'm not sure i've ever seen tedford be this confident about a team in the preseason.

You're correct. Sorry to paint you all that way. I actually like ESPN.

Exactly, its easy to pick those marshmallow defenses apart out there in Pac 10 land....The only good defense out there is USC...I will hand it to them though, they do have some pretty interesting offense to watch

right. sec defenses being ranked high has nothing to do with a) sec offenses sucking and b) the cupcake non conference schedules.

How man defenses are in the Pac 10 that are highly ranked every year??? While some of the SEC offenses may not be prolific, they obviously are good enough to win more BCS Championships(along with playing a little hard nosed defense)...Not saying the Pac 10 is a horrible conference by no means, because the Pac 10 has a couple of good teams....USC, Cal, Oregon, and if Arizona State could ever live up to some of the hype they could be tough, but the SEC is hard to argue against being the best conference in the country

I wish someone would've informed Crompton of this before the UCLA game last year.

Riley has the better offensive line so he'll have the better year. But Tennessee has better WRs. When Nyan Boateng (a former Florida WR that would never see the field) is your best WR... that's a problem.

Crompton looked superb picking apart that marshmallow UCLA defense last year. In all honesty i'm not going to hold my breath for any substantial improvement. I saw the poll yesterday and voted for Riley figuring he's a $5000 claimer in a $2500 race.

boateng isn't starting. tucker and jones are #1 and #2. and boateng was a true freshman at florida and got injured midseason when his GF stabbed him :). not sure you can really use that as a good idea as to how good he is.

The SEC is clearly the best conference in the country, but pac-10 teams have not had a problem scoring against SEC teams historically. All i'm saying is that your defensive statistics are exagerated (as the pac-10 offensive ones probably are too).

I guess that changed during fall camp?

Even so, I would have to say UT has more talent at WR than Cal. Only time will tell who actually plays better.

didn't you lose your starting WR and are likely to play 2 true freshman? jones was a pretty big recruit btw. he was injured most of last season, but has been lighting it up in practice. but i'd admit he is probably the only real gamebreaker. boatang, ross, and tucker are just "pretty good."
