Who will be the fastest guys on our team?

Fastest guys on the team? More than likely Vinson then Berry.

KR? Rogan was very good... Until the new guys actually practice, it is premature to say they'll beat him out. BB looks like a nice candidate for KR though. Nuke needs 20 lbs.

I don't know that Rogan ever returned kicks. I think he was exclusively used for punts.

My guess for returners is Nuke and GJ/Rogan. Ig brown isn't starting throw him in there too.

I would almost being willing to bet that Rogan never returns kicks or punts again unless there are a bunch of injuries.

I agree.

I think Oku, Rogers, Nuke and Brown will be the primary return men.

You need to have speed, but also need to be shifty. Having the ability to get up to top speed quickly is what makes James so good.

Probably NUKE!!! I can't wait to see him return kickoffs. It is nice having a true special teams coach in the fold.

To relate this back to Briscoe and Taylors 4.3 pro day times ...these are probably guys with speed on the Vols roster that we are not even aware of . It seems that we have in the past had trouble using , showcasing speed ...and in some cases aren't even aware of it ! I hope the new coaches can use the speed they have much like the UF's and USC's of the world ! It is there so use it !!

Those were hand-timed. If you've watched Briscoe play, you'd know those times weren't legit.

I don't know ....the average of 3 stop watches had both Taylor and Briscoe in the 4.3's . An average of 3 was used and the margin of error for this method is .05 ...so low 4.4's high 4.3's . The NFL scouts bought in . In 07 Taylor was a 1000 yard receiver , 37th highest total in the nation for a receiver . Briscoe was a 600 yard receiver . It is hard to measure either kid against what they did in 08 , bad scheme and no body getting the ball to them . My point is , UT has speed all over their team , both sides of the ball . When you look back at guys like Coker , Oneal , Hancock , Paige ect ect ....Fulmer has failed to develope their talent , use their speed , get them involved before their senior seasons. Teams like UF and USC have found ways to get the speed with the ball .

Who said Rogan only returned punts and not kickoffs? I think he was our LEADER in kickoff returns.

And ...
"I would almost being willing to bet that Rogan never returns kicks or punts again unless there are a bunch of injuries."
G8terH8terEric, you would not want to make such a bet. Rogan is a baller that is going to get on the field and make plays. You remember Mark Jones (just signed with Titans)? Rogan is one of that kind.

Just a thought........ Mike Edwards looked really good with the ball in his hands in the tape I saw. He is a long strider and gets up to speed quick and in a hurry.

Nuke looked good. Marsalis Teague is just a flat out athlete(kiffin has expressed interest in getting him some touches). I doubt we see much EB in the return game. GJ and maybe Creer would be my candidates to start the season. Brown will no doubt see time in the return game if he isn't starting right off the bat. Oku is QUICK, but he needs to work on his top-end speed.

G Jones has been impressing the coaches thus far. He might not have the raw speed like others on our team, but he is a play maker

With as much speed as defenses have on them lately, i'd say agility is more important than speed.
