Does anyone think Tebow will out preform Ainge in 2007?
I do not, I think Ainge will have his best year.

Ainge may not play the whole year either if he starts tossing the ball up for grabs whenever there's a corner blitz in his face.

Apparently you missed the '06 season. Ainge went from the second quarter of the Bama game til the PSU game without throwing a INT.

no, I'm pretty sure I was here for the '06 season. "may" and "if" are two qualifiers that I used because Ainge ended the season looking like his 2005 self, but the Outback Bowl was an anomaly when compared to the other 12 games.

I know at least one will think so. He's a lawyer though, so you pretty much know you can't believe anything he says...

You know, first of all, this seems to me to be another thread designed to bait me into an argument. Thing is, this is an argument I don't think anyone can win simply because you can't compare apples and oranges.

Tebow is going to be running a spread-option offense, which means he will run but also throw and so much of his success will depend on yards-after. That's a function of how good his receivers are as much as his accuracy as a passer.

Ainge will likely find himself in a much more traditional offense, one that focuses on running first, passing second. And the running will not be by him and rarely the receivers. His passing numbers will be much more based upon his arm strength and accuracy than it will the talent of those around him.

In short, I think Ainge's talent is much more likey to be something you can isolate than will be Tebow's. I predict that you will not be able to compare them given these variables and that, therefore, the predictions now on who will have the "better" year are meritless.

i must've seen a different outback than you. While ainge wasn't great in the game i watched, he did nothing to remind me 2005 either.

I think Ainge will have better passing numbers than Tebow, but I think Ainge will have a statistically worse season than he did in 2006. My gut says the running game will produce more yards than 2006, thus lowering the pass attempts.

There is gonna be so much Tebow hype it's gonna get ridiculous. For Ainge I think it will depend on the receivers and if they can step up.

Tebow will be alot like Heath Shuler. Very strong arm and excellent runner, but without the touch/timing passes that Wurffel killed us with. We're gonna see Cryer's O for real this season because he has his players now.

When has Tebow proven that he can be "the" guy? Or that he can pass against a decent defense for that matter? This argument is moot until then.

If some receivers don't step up for the Vols it could get ugly, especially if the run blocking doesn't improve significantly. I realize that my opinions regarding next season are viewed with skepticism as being overtly "negative" due to my position on Fulmer, however, I just dont see how UT is going to score points next year with all the starting receivers gone, no marquee running back, an OL that cannot or will not run block, and the loss of a Sr. kicker. Yes, some guys got reps and, hopefully, that experience will help them in '07 but I did not see improvement from the beginning to the end of the '06 season unlike a team like UGA whose underclassmen undeniably demonstrated improvement through the course of the season.
