I'm still trying to figure out why Jaquel Richmond has to sit out a year, can you explain that one for me?

Keep thinking about it maybe one day you will come up with the answer.
If a student-athlete signs an NLI with one school but opts to attend a different school in the NLI program, he or she will lose one full year of eligibility and must sit out of competition at his or her new school for a full academic year. There is no penalty if the student-athlete chooses to attend a school that is not in the NLI program.

Not being an insider with the Houston coach like you are didn't know what stipulations he put on his release.

Lol wait, so you're telling me that if Richmond were to commit to Tennessee he would have to sit out a year?

No I'm telling you all releases are different and are subject to what the coach of the team decides. In this case it was a release without any conditions it seems so he can sign and play anywhere. Actually it seems he didn't qualify which makes the LOI null and void. If Tyndall had wanted to he could have made all four of our recruits lose one year eligibility and sit out a year at another school. I'm glad he didn't do that there are still come coaches that do namely our former football coach.

Right, he was released and it was being said he would have to sit out, I was trying to figure out why as when he was released it was known to be a full release.

Pearl also didn't let Tyler Smith out of his NLI, iirc.

I don't think he even had to ask for a release it became null and void when he didn't qualify. I don't know that for sure just my guess especially since he ended up in a prep school. I didn't know any of this in the beginning, but it seems clear he can play anywhere he can qualify to play next season.

Yes I remember that happened was a big surprise when he came back to play for us. He got his release because of his Dad's illness was eligible to play for us right away.

He got a waiver to play immediately because of his Dad's illness. Iowa had to release him first.

I'm talking about when he was committed to Buzz but Pearl wouldn't release him from his NLI. Tyler ended up going to prep school instead.

Also, who was it that Dooley didn't release that your referring to?

I think he threatened several players finally gave some weird releases. The guy that died Douglas I think had to play 500 miles from Tennessee or something like that. I don't think he gave Brown a release didn't matter he didn't go to school anymore. I know the family was really upset.

Oh. I thought you were talking about Dooley had denied letting kids out of NLIs. The ones you mentioned are all transfers which, IMO, are a different matter altogether.
