sorry but I'm going the other way. We should have won this game 62-3. Zero points in the 2nd half. Zero. This was against a team without a coach. Sit on that lead in a game that is important ie Ga, Bama, etc.. and they will inch back and win. Steve Spurrier was the king of this - put your foot on the gas and every possession is a 0-0 game no matter the score, no matter the opponent. Imbed this in your players brains no matter who you are playing so that when the big game comes up they know how to play and not lose

Here are the facts:

1. Even in the 2nd half we threw the ball 33% of the time. 10 of 30 plays were passes. Much more than the negative posters would believe in their minds. Our first possession we quickly had 2 penalties on passing plays and still had decent field position. Not throwing a forced pass and running the ball was a smart play by our coach.

2. We only had the ball 3 times in the 2nd half and controlled the line of scrimmage. 3 possessions controlling the clock, mistakes and injuries.

3. Florida pulled the majority of their defensive starters in the middle of 3rd quarter and ran their play clock down with no rush to move the ball. They waved the white flag early. Coach knew this and did the right thing.

In this case you save your QB from going back and getting blindsided (again) and show some class and keep running the ball down their throat while still keeping our starter in to get his 200+.

We won at the swamp in an uncontested game and people complain. I’ve been at the Swamp many times. Any W there is special by 1 pt. or 20!! Great night to be a Vol!

A sad take. We got out with a very solid win. We did not get any injuries and we showed other teams something new to wonder about....a gameplan that involves pounding the supposed strength of the defense until it was mush. This is the first time CJH looked comfortable running a true ball control offense. He had no fear of Florida and just ground out the win. The team was enjoying it very much. The communication from the coaches must have been humorous given the smile on Joey's face everytime they broke the huddle on that last drive. He needed 11 yards to keep his streak alive and we showed that we could have blown them out at any moment. This fanbase had a large percentage of posters that were certain we were going to get beat, now the same ones are complaining we didnt win by enough. To quote the spot on morning radio "GIVE ME A BREAK"!

They also had a couple new wrinkles that they hadn’t shown. Loved the trickery with Matthews taking the ball on a run in the first half.

I also liked that he had Ethan Davis lined up in the backfield as a lead blocker on a few run plays in the first half, then ran the same formation but leaked him out into the flat and ran a PA pass to him for a TD.

you go out to a 30+ lead in first half on vandy and it wont be pretty. Pavia can s**t 3 scores out in his sleep. If you dont learn how to keep a lead by scoring youre doomed to failure. That's what chump games are for - learning how to before having to learn on the job

Both teams knew the game was over. Both did everything they could to limited possessions. This is why Flordia was running the ball down 3 TDs. We just needed to get out with 2nd half without injuries.

Yep, when they ran 8 minutes off the clock then missed the FG it was pretty clear they just wanted the game to be over….we’ll not see that against Vandy. Vandy is gonna use tempo to catch our defense looking to the sidelines…

Perfectly coached game. Florida thought that if they just prevent the long passes, they had a chance, wrong. We ran the ball along with short passes. They kept thinking, along with the announcers, that any moment we were going go deep. Josh did not try to run the hurry up offense they were expecting. In a hostile loud environment we huddled up a lot, so everyone was on the same page. Lagway got one long run and they adjusted and that did not happen again. Tennessee had a well thought out plan and was very patient with it.

It was a fantastic gameplan and im thrilled with this beatdown. It felt great to straight up mop Florida. Now the realist in me has to say that Oklahoma ran the same defense and last nights gameplan would’ve worked great three weeks ago as well.

I don’t think we took our foot off the gas. It’s not like we threw the ball all over the field in the first half. It appeared to me that we ran the exact same offense in the 2nd half as we did in the first. Florida played with no urgency and used a ton of clock in the 2nd half. It came down to simple math at the start of the 4th.
