I'm not denying that racism exists but I do question just about everything that CB says. Sorry, I am from his hometown of Leeds, Al and I know him personally. But, that aside, even from his public persona I could gather that he was nothing more than a show boat and will say or do anything for personal gain. Still, I like him and he can truly be fun but I take what he says with a grain of salt.

What is scary is that so many people look for racism that they believe any allegation without proof.

So how much contact and how many dealings with Auburn University have you had in your life? Perhaps Charles Barkley knows something about how the University and its athletic department work.

I've had no dealings with Auburn. With out a doubt he knows more about Auburn then me. Neither of your statements prove anything about alleged racism at Auburn. I can speak to personal knowledge of CB. So, unless I have proof of racism, I am not going to go on CB's word alone. If it exists, it will be exposed.

Showboats and others with a personal agenda need not apply.

I am tired of hearing the race card come out instantly, with out ANY proof to make it a legit arguement. I don't think chizik was a better hire, nor do I think gill wouldve been a great hire. If you look at his record at buffalo, he's 15-22. not that that's so terrible, it is buffalo after all. But face it, this guy isn't setting the woods on fire either. If he had 2 or 3 winning seasons in a row, but let's face it, one season doesn't warrant hiring the guy. Chizik was a mistake hire imo. And I think gill wouldve been too.

So who's to say gill didn't require some outlandish salary and chizik didn't? How does any one know for sure that gill didn't want the bank thrown at him bc he feels like he's the best coach available?

If UT had interviewed tyrone willingham and lane kiffin only, who would you rather they hire?

Auburn wanted a coach with ties to their program. Muschamp wasn't interested. The guy from UGA had no experience at all(cannot remember his name). Enter chizik.

This only became an issue of race when barkley opened his yap and spouted off

It doesn't take a colorblind football genius to see that Gill >>>>>Chizik and Kiffin>>>>>Willingham. You can call it what you want to, I happen to think that Barkley is right. I am with you, I hate the race card being played over everything, but that doesn't mean that race played no part in this hire.

Without knowing any details, he cannot make such heavy accusations.all I'm saying is I think it is pretty ignorant for him to say this is a race issue when it could be nothing of the sorts. But because he said it is, it must be.

That does not necessarily mean he speaks the truth.
Don't sound like Gill wanted the job, I can't say I blame him.
He is better off waiting, he will land a good job.
Don't get me wrong, the dude they hired was not a good hire by any means.

Tennessee made a GREAT hire. Some of you are to ignorant to see it, but it was a great hire for us. I mean C'MON!! Monte Kiffin is coming!!!! :)

Auburn, not so much. Chizik may turn out to be okay, but I doubt it. Auburn will be looking for a new coach in probably 2-3 years.

I may or may not be a "football genius", but I will say that I think Kiffin is a better hire than Gill would have been. If nothing else, Gill could never have accumulated the staff that Lane has put together.
